About the Role:

The Advanced Machinist plays a crucial role in the steel manufacturing industry by operating and maintaining various types of machinery. This position requires precision and attention to detail, as the machinist will be responsible for laying out and planning the cut path, monitoring the machining process, and adjust feeds and speeds as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

    High school diploma or GED required6+ years machining (mill, lathe, saw, or boring machines) experience with large steel forgings requiredMust be able to communicate in EnglishMust be able to read and use and tape measureMust be able to lift, push, and pull at least 50 lbs

Preferred Qualifications:

    CNC (mill or lathe) experience a plusMDI experience a plusOSHA or Machining certifications a plus

Responsibilities:

    Operate overhead crane for loading and unloading machinesLayout and plan cut pathDetermine proper toolingMonitor machining process and adjust feeds and speeds as necessaryManage chip generation and maintain clean work area (sweeping and shoveling required)Measure final pieces using rulers, pi tape, dial indicators, and calipersComplete documentation via paper or electronic formatAdhere to all safety policies and procedures
