Job Description
The Nurse Manager–Oncology provides daily clinical and operational leadership for the Medical Oncology ambulatory practice and the Radiation Oncology practice. This role is responsible for ensuring highquality, evidencebased patient care; efficient patient flow; regulatory compliance; and a safe, patientcentered environment. The Nurse Manager collaborates closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, administrative leaders, and multidisciplinary teams to support excellence in oncology care delivery.
The Nurse Manager oversees clinical operations, planning, coordination, staffing, and supervision of resources necessary to support effective and efficient patient care and safety in accordance with departmental standards of practice. This position includes direct clinical responsibilities within the Medical Oncology practice to support patient care and operational continuity.
In collaboration with practice leadership, the Nurse Manager manages clinical and support staff for medical oncology and nursing staff within radiation oncology. This includes delegating and supervising work, evaluating outcomes, and identifying opportunities for performance improvement. The Nurse Manager maintains clinical competency, contributes to the development of nursing practice standards, and participates in professional committees and organizations in coordination with the Professional Practice Department. The Nurse Manager works closely with the Director of Oncology Services and Medical Directors to plan, coordinate, and evaluate oncology practice operations and ensures adherence to policies, procedures, competency requirements, and evidencebased oncology standards.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Licensure
- Graduate of an accredited RN program
- Current New York State licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse
- Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field required
- Master’s degree preferred
Experience
- Minimum of two years’ experience in medical/surgical nursing with IV therapy experience
- Oncology experience preferred
- Professional experience in an outpatient or ambulatory setting is preferred.
- Supervisory experience required
- Management experience preferred.
Certification
Incumbent must obtain:
- Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Certification (ONS or other validated program) within one (1) year of hire
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The position functions primarily in an indoor clinical setting under normal working conditions. Responsibilities require the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, ambulate within the clinical environment, and perform manual tasks requiring hand-eye coordination. Physical requirements include pushing/pulling up to 25 lbs. and lifting/moving up to 15 lbs. Sensory requirements include the ability to read, speak, and comprehend English to safely perform clinical and documentation responsibilities.

Salary Range: $44.19-$66.28 /hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
