About the Role
We’re looking for a dedicated Lead LPN to join our team and help us continue delivering the level of care our patients and families deserve. In this role, the Cardiology Lead LPN is a working supervisor position who coordinates and supports the patient care areas of the practice. Under immediate supervision, supports providers (physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants) in provision of patient care; includes recording vital signs, discussing chief health concerns, performing testing, and administering injections; assists with procedures and documentation.
What You’ll Do
- Delivers direct care to patients with maximum attention to the comfort and satisfaction needs of patients. Assists in procedures and injection administration. Provides patient safety through preventive measures (e.g. two patient identities, fall prevention)
- Oversee LPNs and Medical Assistants. Creates schedules for the LPNs, Lab specialists and Medical Assistants. Coordinates daily schedule including sick calls ins, breaks and provider assignments. Coordinates team huddles as needed.
- Supports the triage desks by assisting with requests for medication refills, radiology orders and collects pertinent information to report to the provider for care plan.
- Delivers care reflecting knowledge of nursing skills and therapeutic nursing measures related to musculoskeletal function, respiratory and cardiovascular function, bowel and bladder function, nutritional maintenance, specimen testing, comfort and safety measures.
- Observes and communicates pertinent information and changes in patient’s condition to the MD/APP. Recognizes and reports abnormal results. Observes, records and reports patient’s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physician. Logs and assists in result tracking for lab and radiology.
- Follows instructions accurately, organizes multiple tasks and establishes day to day priorities.
- Responds appropriately and professionally to patient/family requests. Reports concerning complaints to the manager/MD.
- Prepare patient charts; answers phone; performs other general office duties as required.
- Tracks, manages and orders supplies and medications. Maintains appropriate inventory and communicates needs to the manager.
- Measure LPN and Medical Assistant workload based on practice and patient needs to ensure quality as well as cost effectiveness.
- Facilitate resolution of conflicts, promote high customer service standards and empower staff in decision-making.
- Collaborate effectively by developing positive relationships and communicating information inside as well as outside the practice.
- Serve as a resource to Physicians, Advanced Practice Professionals and support team inside as well as outside the practice.
- Promote a culture of safety for patients, self, co-workers, and organization.
What You Bring
Education, Training & Experience
- Minimum one year experience in an outpatient clinical setting preferred.
- NYS LPN license
