JOB INFORMATION
- Job Title: Assembler
- Department: Assembly
- Reports To: Production Control Manager/Production Manager
- Shift Schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:40 PM. Occasional weekend work and overtime may be required based on business needs.

ROLE PURPOSE
The Assembler is responsible for installing a variety of hardware components, including studs, standoffs, nut-certs, bolts, and other fastening devices, onto sheet metal parts and electronic assemblies. This position performs assembly operations in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and quality requirements. This position ensures compliance with ISO and AS9100 quality standards, including process control, traceability, and product conformity requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assembling mechanical, electrical, or electronic components manually according to work instructions, blueprints, or assembly drawings.
- Using hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, cutters, and torque tools to build products.
- Review all documents relating to the assigned work.
- Inspecting parts and components for defects before and during assembly.
- Following standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality standards, and safety regulations
- Comply with all company quality management systems (QMS) requirements documented procedures.
- Reading and interpreting assembly instructions, diagrams, and specifications.
- Performing basic testing, troubleshooting, and verification of assembled units.
- Ensuring components are installed correctly and securely.
- Maintaining accurate production and assembly records when required.
- Keeping work areas clean, organized, and compliant with workplace safety requirements.
- Reporting material shortages, equipment issues, or quality concerns to supervisors.
- Meeting production targets while maintaining quality standards.
- Packaging completed assemblies for shipping or the next stage of production.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, work instructions, and assembly documentation.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools, power tools, and assembly equipment safely and effectively.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with attention to detail.
- Ability to perform repetitive assembly tasks while maintaining quality and productivity standards.
- Basic computer skills for data entry, production tracking, and use of manufacturing or business management systems.
- Ability to accurately use measuring devices such as tape measures, calipers, scales, gauges, and other inspection tools as required.
- Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of company, customer, and proprietary information.
- Dependable attendance record and commitment to workplace safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing the duties of this position in a metal manufacturing environment, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands and fingers to handle, operate, or feel materials and tools, reach with hands and arms, and communicate effectively by talking and listening.
- The employee is occasionally required to lift materials, climb, and maintain balance while performing production tasks.
- Frequent walking, bending, lifting, and reaching are required throughout the work shift in a production setting.
- Must be able to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- This role requires specific visual abilities, including close vision, to ensure accuracy and quality in metal fabrication and inspection tasks.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required on a daily basis to ensure safety in the work environment.
- Required to wear steel-toe safety shoes/boots and all other required PPE while working in the manufacturing facility.
- Exposure to noise, dust, metal shavings, and occasional sharp objects.
- The employee may occasionally be exposed to risks of electrical shock.
- Work environment may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, metal burrs and chips, and potential chemical irritants such as water-based coolants, hydraulic oils, degreasing agents, and mineral spirits.
- The employee may occasionally be exposed to extreme cold or heat conditions.
- Noise levels in the work environment are typically loud, requiring appropriate hearing protection.
- Exposure to hazardous equipment may occur on a weekly basis, requiring strict adherence to safety procedures and protocols.
- Work is performed in compliance with ISO 9001 / AS9100 quality and safety requirements.
