Job Title: Optometric Technician
Department: Eye Clinic
Reports to: Eye Clinic Director
Classification: Regular, Full-Time, Salaried, Exempt
Work location: Onsite
Starting Salary: $35,797 - $42,114
Job Summary:
Support the daily patient care activities of the Optometry Clinic and assist with quality improvement projects.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Patient correspondence for appointment scheduling, phone calls, referrals and recalls
- Performs and documents entrance examination testing including autorefraction, lensometry, visual acuities, oculomotor testing, pupil assessment and measurement of intraocular pressure.
- Performs and documents diagnostic testing as needed including fundus photography, optical coherence tomography, topography and visual fields
- Prepares medications & patients for in office procedures using aseptic technique and assists providers during procedures
- Facilitates the enrollment of patients in patient assistance programs and maintenance of eligibility
- Performs autoclaving and instrument sterilization
- Supports flow of clinic operations
- Scribes for providers as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Working knowledge of eye clinic processes and the use of preventive and diagnostic equipment.
- Effective communication
- Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills
- Strong computer skills.
Education and Experience:
- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Associate's Degree or Certification: Education or certification in a relevant field is preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience is preferred.
