Job Title: Optometric Technician

Department: Eye Clinic

Reports to: Eye Clinic Director

Classification: Regular, Full-Time, Salaried, Exempt

Work location: Onsite

Starting Salary: $35,797 - $42,114

Job Summary:

Support the daily patient care activities of the Optometry Clinic and assist with quality improvement projects.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Patient correspondence for appointment scheduling, phone calls, referrals and recalls
  • Performs and documents entrance examination testing including autorefraction, lensometry, visual acuities, oculomotor testing, pupil assessment and measurement of intraocular pressure.
  • Performs and documents diagnostic testing as needed including fundus photography, optical coherence tomography, topography and visual fields
  • Prepares medications & patients for in office procedures using aseptic technique and assists providers during procedures
  • Facilitates the enrollment of patients in patient assistance programs and maintenance of eligibility
  • Performs autoclaving and instrument sterilization
  • Supports flow of clinic operations
  • Scribes for providers as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of eye clinic processes and the use of preventive and diagnostic equipment.
  • Effective communication
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills
  • Strong computer skills.

Education and Experience:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Associate's Degree or Certification: Education or certification in a relevant field is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience is preferred.

Work is frequently active in nature and requires the ability to move around workspace. Requires computer work and hand dexterity.
