Job Title: Fleet Mechanic Manager
Department: Maintenance Mechanical
Reports to: Shop Foreman/ Operations Manager
Summary
The Fleet Mechanic Manager is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the ISI fleet of trucks and tractor trailers, pull behind trailers, and weld generators; as well as overseeing the maintenance on all company owned PIT. This role is responsible for managing a team of mechanics, ensuring that all vehicles operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards. This position requires someone with strong organizational and time management skills - deadline and detail oriented. A successful candidate must have extensive experience as a mechanic with strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Success Criteria & Measurement
· Performs all work within Standard Repair Times (SRTs)
· Accurately estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and requisitions new parts, and locating replacement parts
· Completes required paperwork associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times in a timely manner
· Completes preventative maintenance on required equipment in a timely manner in order to mitigate major downtime of equipment
· Oversees forklift mechanics on floor
· Works with limited supervision and establishes procedures to accomplish assigned tasks
Responsibilities
· Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts
·Oversees and coordinates daily activities of mechanics; ensures compliance with federal, state and local vehicle regulations (DOT).
· Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures
· Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems such as: power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics
· Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems
· Maintains vehicle records for services and repairs
· Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with ISI / OSHA Standards, and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures
· Monitor spreadsheet of all company vehicles with updates to leadership team on behalf of mechanic team
Physical Demands
· Must be able to complete the essential functions of this position: stand, walk, climb, crouch, stoop, kneel and bend
· Occasionally exerting up to 60 pounds of force and lifting up to 50 pounds
· Operating tools, performing mechanical or skilled trade tasks
· The position is subject to environmental conditions; protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes
Qualifications
· High School degree required
· Minimum of 5 years of related experience
· State inspection license; CDL preferred, not required
· Experience working on commercial trucks
· Must have your own tools
· Previous experience as a mechanic
· Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
· Deadline and detail-oriented
