This is a senior technical leadership role focused on building and scaling the cloud infrastructure behind a high-growth SaaS platform.
You’ll help define the long-term infrastructure strategy while translating ambitious technical goals into practical, deliverable initiatives.
The role involves solving complex, ambiguous infrastructure challenges that often span multiple engineering teams.
You’ll influence architecture, reliability, security, scalability, and operational practices across the wider engineering organization.
Working with a modern cloud-native stack, you’ll have significant scope to improve how infrastructure is designed, operated, and automated.
You’ll also champion responsible AI adoption, helping engineering teams gain leverage from AI while managing the risks of infrastructure change.
This is a remote-first opportunity for a hands-on technical leader who enjoys solving difficult problems and making teams around them more effective.
- Help define the long-term technical vision and architecture for cloud infrastructure in collaboration with Staff and Senior Staff engineers, translating strategic goals into actionable initiatives.
- Lead complex and ambiguous infrastructure problems from initial investigation through resolution, looking beyond symptoms to identify underlying technical and organizational causes.
- Drive large, cross-team initiatives by building relationships, creating alignment, and developing consensus among engineering and business stakeholders.
- Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to engineering teams designing cloud infrastructure for new products and features.
- Design, improve, and operate highly scalable, reliable, and highly available cloud infrastructure across multiple regions.
- Strengthen day-to-day operational health by reducing noisy alerts, improving observability, hardening systems, and making infrastructure easier and safer to operate.
- Partner closely with Application Security stakeholders to strengthen infrastructure against security, compliance, and operational risks.
- Help establish and raise engineering standards around infrastructure architecture, infrastructure as code, reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.
- Identify opportunities to improve tooling, automation, and engineering workflows, including responsible adoption of AI-assisted development and research tools.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and contribute to incident response, post-incident learning, and improvements that prevent recurring issues.
- Mentor and support engineers across teams, raising the technical bar while sharing knowledge and encouraging sound architectural decision-making.
- Champion infrastructure improvements that increase the effectiveness of the wider engineering organization and support continued business growth.
- Deep expertise with AWS, including experience designing or operating multi-region deployments and highly available, high-scale cloud services.
- Strong infrastructure-as-code expertise, particularly with Terraform and modern cloud provisioning practices.
- Excellent infrastructure architecture skills, with the ability to combine AWS services and cloud-native components into scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems.
- Proven experience operating databases at scale, including upgrades, capacity planning, performance tuning, scaling, and operational maintenance.
- A strong track record of leading large technical projects and building consensus across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to investigate complex problems, challenge assumptions, identify root causes, and drive solutions across organizational boundaries.
- Experience working in a meaningful-scale, rapidly growing technology environment, with practical experience navigating the infrastructure challenges associated with significant growth.
- Strong technical leadership capabilities, including setting direction, influencing without relying on formal authority, raising engineering standards, and developing others.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools for coding, technical research, or engineering workflows, combined with the judgment to determine when AI should be directed, validated, or overridden.
- Comfortable working in an environment where infrastructure decisions can have significant operational impact and where careful risk assessment is essential.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and take ownership of production reliability.
- Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.

- Annual salary range of CAD $158,400–$247,500, reflecting progression from developing capability through advanced proficiency and excellence.
