The Senior Manager, Software Engineering will lead a key engineering domain, ensuring successful delivery of reliable, scalable, and secure software platforms. The role requires a balance of technical depth, people leadership, operational excellence, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Own the engineering strategy, execution roadmap, and daily operations for a critical product engineering area.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers while creating a culture focused on accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Provide technical guidance across architecture, design decisions, implementation challenges, and production operations.
- Partner with Product, Research, SRE, and engineering leaders to prioritize initiatives and deliver scalable solutions.
- Improve engineering fundamentals, including observability, incident management, quality standards, CI/CD practices, and operational processes.
- Use metrics, technical insights, and business priorities to identify improvement opportunities and increase team effectiveness.
- Drive reliable delivery of software solutions while maintaining strong technical health and long-term scalability.
- Support strategic planning and execution in a multi-cloud environment.
- Communicate technical priorities, risks, and trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and best practices across engineering teams.
The ideal candidate is a technically experienced engineering leader with a strong background in software development, cloud technologies, distributed systems, and team management. They should be comfortable moving between strategic planning, technical discussions, and hands-on problem solving.
- 6+ years of experience in software, platform, or cloud engineering, including direct responsibility for engineering teams and delivery outcomes.
- Proven experience leading engineers, improving development processes, and delivering reliable production systems.
- Strong hands-on experience building and operating distributed systems using AWS and/or GCP.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native architectures, and modern engineering practices.
- Strong technical foundation in backend engineering, observability, and operational excellence.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver complex technology initiatives.
- Ability to balance technical depth with strong people leadership and organizational influence.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts and business impact.
- Experience working in high-growth SaaS, security, fraud prevention, authentication, trust and safety, or related technology environments is a plus.
- Previous experience as a software, infrastructure, or platform engineer before transitioning into management is preferred.
- Competitive base salary range of approximately $195,000 – $235,000 USD, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
