Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Administrative Director of Patient Care RN for our Perioperative Services at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, NJ. With over 700 physicians and 2,100 employees, we offer advanced treatment for a wide variety of medical conditions. In 2017, the Medical Center completed a state-of-the-art campus expansion featuring a new four-story 87,000 square foot building with a private, 32 bed Intensive Care Unit, new Main Entrance and Lobby, Retail Pharmacy, Patient Registration Area and newly expanded Emergency Department.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• Minimum 4 years of perioperative experience
• Minimum of four years of nursing administrative experience
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Proficient Computer Skills

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, or Business (MSN, MHA, or MBA) strongly preferred.

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• National certification CNOR strongly preferred or obtained within one year of start.
• Active New Jersey RN license (or ability to obtain)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) — American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

• Day Shift, 37.5 hours
• Full Time

Essential Functions:

• The Administrative Director for Perioperative Services, is responsible for assisting the Vice President, Patient Care Services, in defining, planning, developing, implementing and evaluating the philosophy and objectives of patient care services to ensure the optimal delivery of care and services to all patients in an environment that promotes professional development and continues to assure financial viability.
• The primary goal of nursing and patient care services is the delivery of quality, compassionate, culturally competent, cost-effective and efficient care to individuals, families and communities served.
• The Administrative Director collaborates with the Patient Care Management Team to ensure the goal in formulating, implementing and evaluating patient services in the Medical Center and community,
• The Administrative Director for Perioperative Services will utilize strong entrepreneurial and business skills with the ability to handle a lot of high-priority and high visibility initiatives for the fastest growing service line.
• The Administrative Director for Perioperative Services will oversee the patient care services staff management department in the Operating Room, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Sterile Processing Department (SPD), Same Day Surgery (SDS) and Pre-Admission Testing (PAT), and the Scheduling Department.
• The Administrative Director for Perioperative Services, will ensure the delivery of safe, quality care, create a customer service-oriented environment for both staff and the medical staff.
• Ensure Perioperative Services and all related departments are in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations.
• Experience and facility at SPM or similar tracking and reporting systems.
• Ability to lead change, foster a culture of accountability, and drive continuous quality improvement.
• Excellent communication and physician relationship-building skills
• Expertise in leading teams through operational growth, new space activations, and surgical innovation adoption
• Provides 24-hour accountability for patient care delivery
• Ensures that quality nursing care is delivered to all patients on his/her nursing unit in accordance with the philosophy, policies, procedures and program plans of the hospital
• Assists with the development of patient care standards, orientation and continuing education
• Evaluates staff performance in accordance with organizational policies.
• Develops, implements and maintains unit budget.
• Participate in nursing quality assurance.
• Maintains unit administration including scheduling and maintaining supplies and equipment
• Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.
• Promotes quality of patient care through the following: Develops or revises plan for patient care delivery in assigned areas; Identifies and corrects actual or potential problems; Recommends or selects appropriate indicators to measure performance; Implements and enforces the national patient safety goals; Communicates QA and PI findings as required.
