Matheny is a special hospital for children and adults with medically complex developmental disabilities Mathenys mission is to provide exceptional care and an optimal quality of life for children and adults with special needs and medically complex developmental disabilities. Each patient has a primary nurse who coordinates all his/her care needs. Our nurses and nurse managers work closely with our paraprofessional care staff for on-going communication and teaching about each individual patient. We maintain close contact with families and acknowledge their importance as a valued member of the healthcare team.
Matheny currently has a career opportunity available for a Full Time School Nurse. Qualifed candidates who are hired for Full Time employment will receive a Signing Bonus of $10,000.00. ($5,000.00 payable after completion of six months of continuous employment and the remaining $5,000.00 after completion of twelve months of continuous employment).
Duties of this position include:
- Provides care and oversight of care to students in accordance with physician's orders, school policy and N.J. Administrative Code.
- Maintains accurate and comprehensive student health records.
- Participates in the IEP development as it relates to preschool student health matters.
- Reviews student immunization records annually for evidence of student compliance to immunization schedule pursuant to N.J.A.C.
- Assists the CSN in updating the School Health Services Plan with the School Physician as requested.
- Communicates effectively with parents, school districts, community organizations, government agencies, students, supervisors and staff.
- Maintains current knowledge of and interprets school policies and procedures as well as all applicable N.J. and Federal laws.
- Attends traditional school based activities such as Back-to-School Night, Prom, Open House, and parent conferences. Provides oversight as per school based certificate and assignment. Accompanies students and staff on field trips as directed.
- Required to cover for other nurses within their scope of practice and cross train on specialized equipment including, but not limited to trach and ventilation care.

The salary range for this position is $44.50 - $48.75 per hour.

Associates degree from an accredited college or university required.
Credentials
Current Registered Professional Nursing license issued by NJ State Board of Nursing.
Current Healthcare provider CPR/AED certification
