Job Description:
The Service Director will oversee the day-to-day operations of the service department, ensuring an exceptional customer experience while maximizing productivity, profitability, and operational efficiency. This position will lead and develop a high-performing service team, establish and achieve departmental goals, control expenses, and maintain the elevated standards expected of the Ferrari brand.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Forecast departmental goals and objectives and develop strategies to achieve revenue, profitability, productivity, and customer satisfaction targets.
- Lead, motivate, coach, and develop service department personnel while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Hire, train, counsel, and monitor the performance of service department employees.
- Direct and schedule the activities of department employees to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Manage work in process to ensure all repairs are completed accurately, efficiently, and within established timelines.
- Implement processes to ensure repairs are completed correctly the first time.
- Monitor and continuously improve CSI and overall customer satisfaction.
- Maximize shop capacity, technician productivity, and overall department efficiency.
- Monitor technician productivity, payroll records, staffing levels, and performance.
- Work closely with Sales and other dealership departments to improve communication, workflow, and overall process efficiency.
- Partner with the Assistant Service Director to improve the use of dealership software, systems, and processes.
- Conduct regular shop and department meetings to maintain effective communication between technicians, advisors, and management.
- Ensure all technicians receive required manufacturer and technical training and remain current with their certifications.
- Develop ongoing training and coaching programs for service advisors to improve performance and customer satisfaction.
- Prepare and manage the annual service department operating budget while monitoring and controlling expenses.
- Provide technical and operational assistance to employees as needed.
- Maintain current knowledge of all software and technology used within the service department.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations affecting service operations, including OSHA requirements and hazardous waste disposal.
- Maintain a safe, professional, organized, and positive working environment for all employees.
Skills/Education required to perform the role:
- 3+ years of automotive service management or supervisory experience.
- 3+ years of experience in an automotive repair facility or dealership service environment.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- ASE certification is preferred.
- Proven leadership ability with a track record of developing and motivating high-performing teams.
- Strong understanding of automotive service department operations, workflow, productivity, and profitability.
- Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory, and managerial skills.
- Ability to operate a service department profitably according to dealership guidelines.
- Exceptional customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to multi-task and perform effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong work ethic, professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of automotive service software and dealership systems; knowledge of Tekion is preferred.
- Knowledge of the Ferrari brand and luxury/exotic automotive service is preferred
Pay: $85,000–$100,000 annually + commission
