Description:

Position Title: Truss Lead

Reports to: Production Manager

Classification: Hourly

Department: Truss

The successful candidate will be someone who is a peer leader. Being able to diagnose issues and offer solutions for efficiency is required. Taking pride in a job well done and delivering a quality product is essential.

Purpose of Position: This role is responsible for determining the production direction according to the schedule. Ensure safe working conditions for all coworkers. Able to set up and build all truss types. Give directions to and effectively communicate with coworkers and managers. Ensure production is as efficient as possible.

Essential Functions: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without reasonable accommodation).

· Assign tasks to truss builders based on their skill level

· Set up truss assembly tables and machinery according to project requirements

· Monitor production schedules and adjust as needed to meet deadlines

· Proactively communicate with fellow leads and managers regarding production progress and potential issues

· Inspect completed trusses for accuracy, defects, and compliance with building codes to ensure a quality product is delivered. Address any issues identified.

· Maintain a safe and clean working environment by enforcing safety procedures, good housekeeping processes and routine cleaning

  • Read and interpret work orders and production schedules (typed, handwritten, computer screen)
  • Participate in all aspects of the truss building process
  • Coach and train new team members on proper truss assembly techniques
  • Manage the flow of materials and ensure proper inventory levels
  • Interpret blueprints and work orders to accurately assemble trusses
  • Follow all established written and unwritten company procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: (Duties that are likely to be assigned to this person unless they prove unable to perform them after receiving training and/or accommodation that the company judges appropriate).

  • Proficient in all aspects of the truss building process
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve machinery and efficiency issues
  • Basic math skills
  • Strong analytical reasoning and judgment to quickly solve production issues
  • Ability to communicate effectively (speaking, listening, and writing) with co-workers.
  • Basic computer skills

Physical Requirements:

· Comply with OSHA requirements and standards to wear all applicable PPE properly

· Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly; 100 lbs. maximum lift

· See within normal range of vision with or without corrective lenses

· Hear running machinery

· Use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitively

· Exceptional eye-hand coordination

· Reach overhead

· Squat, bend, twist, and stand

· Walk around regularly using steps occasionally

· Must be able to read, write and communicate in English effectively

· Participates in and demonstrates an understanding of safety principles and practices; follows all safety policies procedures (e.g., safety glasses, earplugs, face shields, etc.) to support a safe working environment, including safe operation of machines and equipment

· Must be able to pass background check and drug test

Education

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED)

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a Truss Builder

Working Conditions

· Work outside in temperatures ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold.

· Work with mechanical equipment daily.

· Work in areas with high noise levels
