Quality Inspection Team Lead

Micron Solutions is seeking an Inspection Team Lead to provide technical leadership for our Inspection team while remaining actively involved in daily inspection activities. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled inspector who enjoys solving complex quality challenges, mentoring others, and supporting the production of critical medical device and precision-manufactured components.


As a working lead, you will serve as a subject matter expert in mechanical inspection, measurement techniques, blueprint interpretation, and GD&T while collaborating closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure products meet the highest standards of quality and compliance.


Compensation

$35.00 - $42.00 per hour based on experience, qualifications, and technical expertise.

    Position Summary

    The Inspection Team Lead is a hands-on quality professional responsible for coordinating daily inspection activities and providing technical leadership to the Inspection team. This role serves as a working lead, performing mechanical inspections while helping ensure production schedules, customer requirements, and quality objectives are achieved.


    This position acts as a technical resource for inspection methods, metrology, blueprint interpretation, GD&T, and quality documentation. The Inspection Team Lead also serves as a backup to the Quality Supervisor, supporting departmental continuity and day-to-day operations as needed.


    What You'll Do
  • Coordinate daily inspection priorities and workflow to support production schedules, customer requirements, and business objectives
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Quality Inspectors regarding inspection methods, measurement techniques, and interpretation of specifications and drawings
  • Serve as the primary resource for inspection-related questions and quality concerns
  • Support training and development of inspectors on inspection equipment, procedures, and quality system requirements
  • Promote a culture of quality, safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement
  • Serve as a liaison between Inspection, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure effective communication and issue resolution
  • Act as backup to the Quality Supervisor by assisting with workflow coordination, communication of departmental priorities, escalation of quality concerns, and day-to-day team support activities during periods of absence

  • Perform incoming, in-process, first article, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment and established inspection methods
  • Utilize advanced inspection and metrology equipment, including:
    • Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs)
    • Vision Systems
    • Optical Comparators
    • Micrometers
    • Calipers
    • Pin Gages
    • Indicators and other precision measurement tools
  • Interpret engineering drawings, customer specifications, and GD&T requirements to verify product conformance
  • Review Device History Records (DHRs) and associated quality documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance
  • Coordinate and support inspection activities to ensure products meet customer specifications and operational requirements
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams to achieve production and quality objectives
  • Assist in the investigation and disposition of nonconforming materials and products
  • Participate in root cause investigations and CAPA activities
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and quality documentation
  • Support new product introductions, validations, and manufacturing transfers by providing inspection and quality expertise

  • Identify, recommend, and support process improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency
  • Assist in the development, review, and implementation of inspection procedures, work instructions, and quality documentation
  • Monitor quality trends and communicate concerns, risks, and improvement opportunities to Quality leadership
  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits and assist with corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, ISO 13485, GMP, customer, and company quality system requirements
  • Maintain accurate quality records, databases, reports, and supporting documentation

  • Qualifications


    What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 5 years of mechanical inspection experience in a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Advanced proficiency in blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation
  • Strong hands-on experience using precision measurement and metrology equipment
  • Experience with CMMs, Vision Systems, Optical Comparators, and related inspection technologies - Hexagon / PC-DMIS, Keyence and Mitutoyo preferred
  • Experience reviewing Device History Records (DHRs), quality records, and manufacturing documentation
  • Strong problem-solving, root cause analysis, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead by example and coordinate team activities without direct supervisory responsibility
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and quality management systems

  • Associate degree, technical certification, or related education
  • Medical device manufacturing experience strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of FDA Quality System Regulations (21 CFR Part 820), ISO 13485, and GMP requirements
  • Experience supporting audits, CAPAs, and continuous improvement initiatives
