We are looking for experienced security professionals who thrive in fast-paced, guest-facing environments.
Position Overview
As a Nightlife Security Officer, you will serve as the first point of contact for guests and staff at premier nightlife venues. This role requires a commanding presence, sound judgment under pressure, and the ability to de-escalate situations quickly and professionally. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for patrons, staff, and performers while upholding all venue policies and applicable laws.
Your Role:
Manage entry points including guest screening, ID verification, and capacity monitoring
Maintain a visible security presence throughout the venue during operating hours
Proactively identify and de-escalate potential conflicts before they develop into incidents
Perform crowd control during peak hours and special events
Coordinate with venue management, bartenders, and service staff to ensure a safe environment
Respond to and manage incidents including guest ejections, medical emergencies, and disturbances in a professional and controlled manner
Prepare clear and accurate incident reports when required
Enforce venue policies regarding guest conduct, occupancy limits, and restricted areas
Communicate effectively with team members using radio equipment
Assist with venue opening and closing security procedures
Qualifications
Valid New York State Security Guard License required
Prior experience in nightlife, hospitality, or event security preferred
Demonstrated ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive in high-pressure and high-volume environments
Strong verbal communication and conflict resolution skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in loud and crowded settings
Familiarity with NYC nightlife operations including bottle service, velvet rope, VIP management, and capacity compliance is a plus
Must be available to work late evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts
CPR/First Aid certification preferred but not required
FDNY Certificate of Fitness (F-04 Fire Guard) is a plus
Physical Requirements
This role involves physically demanding work in dynamic, fast-paced environments. Essential physical functions include:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (8+ hours per shift)
Ability to navigate crowded spaces and stairs quickly
Ability to physically intervene in altercations and restrain non-compliant individuals when necessary
Ability to lift and carry equipment or objects up to 50 pounds
Ability to work in environments with loud music, flashing lights, and varying temperatures including outdoor rooftop settings
