Job Description
About the Role:
Job Summary: The primary responsibility of the position is to perform tactical activities to support the operation, incorporate buying for medium sized company, and develop capacity within purchasing and scheduling by performing the following.
Essential Job Functions (listing most important first):
- Execute on the preparation of proposals, quotations, and competitive bids, with specifications, terms, and conditions. Complete daily assigned tasks to meet schedule volume and schedule.
- Evaluate and coordinate material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of materials timed to meet production, vendor, and customer requirements.
- Partner with Finance and other cross-functional partners to ensure operations are aligning with key business initiatives. Meet or surpass the business goals around savings, targets, prompt deliveries, and customer satisfaction and report goal out to leadership.
- Apply spending and market analytics to develop best available pricing options for all projects.
- Escalate and report on the performance of suppliers for all active contracts.
- Collect, sort and input production data into system.
- Aid with production scheduling reporting requirements accurately and within the specified time ranges.
- Coordinate interdepartmental activities with quality assurance, scheduling, production, and purchasing.
- Assist in the development and implementation of procedures and techniques which will improve the scheduling function and propose solutions to mitigate purchasing and schedule alignment slippage.
- Understand current operational levels of inventory against production needs to decide correct and prompt ordering.
- Follow Standard Operating procedures (SOP's), Safety guidelines, and adhere to company standards.
- Ensure that work environment is kept clean, safe and organized. Follow safe work procedures. Identify and report unsafe practices to management at once.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED is required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Two (2) years of relevant experience is needed.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
- An understanding of the application and concepts of production and planning control basics such as MRP, inventory management, and capacity planning.
- General computer skills and knowledge of MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Access.
- Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills to communicate effectively and concisely and respond to questions from all organizational levels internally and externally; strong written communication to support effective emailing, drafting documents and forms, and understanding instructions and information in English.
- Must be collaborative and work well as part of a team to effectively collaborate with other departments to effectively and efficiently meet established goals for the company.
- Strong attention to detail, dependability, and excellent organizational skills.
- Requires reasoning ability to be able to identify/recognize potential risk in buying for the company, use analytical abilities for when a problem arises to research and initiate resolution; ability to interpret instructions and information given in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Strong people skills and to negotiate effectively, build rapport with vendors, build and keep effective working relationships to work well with others; consistent display of a cheerful outlook & high-level energy and commitment, strong initiative, and willingness to accept additional responsibilities.
- Strong professional work ethic and integrity. Must have strong people skills, including tact and diplomacy; strong autonomy and accountability is needed.
- Time management skills to effectively multitask, balance multiple priorities and manage competing tasks and/or needs at one time. Must be able to prioritize, manage time well with minimal supervision, multitask in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, and stay focused and conduct their tasks in a prompt and correct manner.
