Job Description
About Newry
Newry is a specialized growth and innovation strategy firm based in Cleveland, Ohio. We help technology-driven companies, from Fortune 500 corporations to middle-market and private-equity-backed businesses, grow in existing, adjacent, and new markets across specialty chemicals, advanced materials, polymers, industrials, medical devices and life sciences, and value-added distribution.
We collaborate directly with CEOs, CTOs, GMs, VPs of New Business Development, and other senior decision-makers on the kind of adjacent market strategy and technical commercialization work that generalist firms don't have the depth to do well, like embedding with a PE-owned specialty chemicals distributor to identify ~$25M in adjacent-chemistry EBITDA opportunities, then helping build and launch the product platform now expected to deliver a third of it.
What You'll Do
As a Growth Strategy Consultant, you'll be involved in every phase of our projects, from research to delivering results. You'll go through structured onboarding in your first few weeks and start engaging with clients quickly. Over time, there's a clear path to Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, and Vice President.
Typical activities include:
- Conducting primary and secondary research, increasingly AI-assisted
- Engaging directly with clients and, at times, their customers or prospects
- Building financial models and structuring recommendations under real ambiguity
- Presenting findings and deliverables to clients, virtually and in person
Why Newry
- Immediate client-facing experience
- Small teams with real technical depth in the sectors we serve
- Genuinely collaborative colleagues – an ego-free team where people actually want you to succeed
Our Values
These aren't aspirational – they're operational. They shape how we staff engagements, how we communicate with clients, and what kinds of work we take on: Put Clients First, Collaborate Enthusiastically, Demonstrate High Integrity, Pursue Growth and Excellence, Take Ownership.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive compensation and benefits, including health/dental, 401(k) match, PTO, and mentorship support.
Newry recruits, employs, contracts, trains, compensates, and promotes regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, veteran status, and other protected statuses as required by applicable law. Newry does not sponsor employment visas.
About You
- Bachelor's, master’s, or doctoral degree from a competitive program in economics, statistics, mathematics, business, finance, physical or biological sciences, or engineering
- 2 – 5 years of relevant professional experience in consulting, market research, or Newry client industries (e.g., specialty chemicals, materials, industrials, etc.)
- Experience building financial models in Excel
- Strong written and verbal communicator, comfortable presenting to senior executives
- A structured, strategic thinker who solves problems well under ambiguity
- Rigor in validating AI-accelerated research and analysis, as well as comfort with the tools
- A bias to action – you'd rather test an idea, fail fast, and learn than wait for certainty
- Based in, or willing to relocate to, the Cleveland, OH area for a hybrid schedule (two days a week in office), with occasional travel for client meetings and conferences
