About the Role:

The Data Entry Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of pharmacy operations by meticulously entering and managing prescription and patient data. This position supports pharmacists and healthcare professionals by maintaining up-to-date records, verifying information, and facilitating smooth workflow within the pharmacy setting. The technician will handle sensitive patient information with the utmost confidentiality and comply with all regulatory standards. By accurately inputting data, the role helps prevent medication errors and enhances patient safety. Ultimately, this position contributes to delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care and improving overall patient outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a Stated Licensed Pharmacy Technician to perform fulfilment or compounding activities
  • Previous experience in data entry or pharmacy technician role preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of pharmacy terminology and prescription processing.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from an accredited program.
  • Experience working in a retail or hospital pharmacy environment.
  • Knowledge of insurance billing procedures and pharmacy benefit management.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with healthcare professionals and patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately enter prescription orders, patient information, and insurance details into the pharmacy database system.
  • Verify the completeness and correctness of data before processing to ensure compliance with pharmacy protocols.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare staff to clarify prescription details and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of patient records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in inventory management by updating stock levels and reporting discrepancies to the pharmacy team.
  • Support daily pharmacy operations by preparing reports and documentation as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with insurance providers to verify coverage and resolve billing issues.

Skills:

The required skills such as attention to detail and familiarity with pharmacy software are essential for accurately entering and verifying prescription and patient data daily. Proficiency in data management tools and Microsoft Office supports efficient documentation and reporting tasks. Preferred skills like certification and knowledge of insurance billing enhance the technician's ability to navigate complex pharmacy workflows and insurance processes. Strong communication skills facilitate effective collaboration with pharmacists, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to resolve data discrepancies and billing issues. Organizational skills enable the technician to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining high standards of accuracy and confidentiality.
