Job Title: Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Foreman
Department: Gas Distribution, Construction and Maintenance
Reports To: Superintendent
Subordinates: HDD Operator
The Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Foreman is involved in the safety, planning, execution, and management of all phases of any directional drilling job to assist in delivering services that meet or exceed customer expectations. The HDD Foreman will demonstrate our core values while installing pipelines of all types and sizes with directional drilling equipment.
- Demonstrate proficiency with and knowledge of HDD equipment, its capabilities and limitations.
- Stay up to date with preventative maintenance of all equipment and tooling.
- Transport equipment safely to and from jobsite locations in accordance with local, state and DOT regulations.
- Install pipelines while committed to following strict HDD policies set forth by the Company and/or customer.
- Submit all production paperwork and records which may include as-built drawings to the Company and/or customer whether it be in paper or digital format.
Education and Certifications
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Class A CDL with all necessary endorsements.

Experience
- Required: 2+ years locating with DCI equipment, SE to Falcon F5 or newer.

Functional / Technical Competency Requirements
- Required: Proficient with Vermeer HDD equipment. Good troubleshooting and problem solving. Proficient with how to plan bores including how to combat various ground conditions. Demonstrated ability to install both steel and plastic pipe of various diameters. Communicate effectively in a team environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, walk, climb or balance, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 90 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, explosives, and vibration. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanic parts and weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
Employees in this job classification are required to work extended hours on a regular basis, must be flexible with the work schedule, be able to handle stressful conditions due to productivity and time constraints, and be willing to travel regionally.
