Position Overview

We are seeking a Global Macro Associate to join our Washington, DC office. This is an entry-level role (1–3 years of experience) designed for a recent undergraduate or graduate degree recipient who is eager to be trained in political risk analysis and to support a fast-paced, investor-relevant research agenda.

The Associate will serve as a “utility infielder” across the Global Macro and Research Management teams—supporting core research production, drafting first-pass analysis, and ensuring strong analytical operations and execution. This position will report to Marc Gustafson, Senior Director of Analysis, and will work closely with analysts and management stakeholders to translate global political and macroeconomic trends into what matters for investors.

This role is primarily internal and will have no travel requirement.

Responsibilities of Global Macro Associate
  • Research and analysis support
    • Conduct foundational research on global political and macroeconomic developments, ranging across regions and themes as needed.
    • Draft first versions of research notes, briefing memos, and client call preparation materials, incorporating feedback from senior team members.
    • Build and maintain internal trackers to monitor key developments and team outputs.
  • Content creation and production management
    • Contribute to the team’s Global Macro slide deck, including drafting sections, updating charts/tables, and ensuring materials are accurate, timely, and consistent.
    • Manage the process for creating and updating the Global Macro slide deck, coordinating inputs, timelines, and version control.
  • Analytical management and oversight
    • Support analytical oversight initiatives focused on monitoring and improving the quality, consistency, and usability of team analysis.
    • Help maintain and improve the team’s Call Tracker, including logging activity and ensuring follow-through on action items.
  • Meeting and call execution
    • Draft and review conference call notes, ensuring clear capture of key takeaways, open questions, and follow-ups.
    • Schedule internal calls, track follow-ups, and help keep internal workflows on track.
  • Training and team development
    • Provide operational and content support to the team’s training program, including materials organization, scheduling, and basic content drafting as needed.
Desired Skills of Global Macro Associate
  • 0–3 years of experience (including internships) in political or policy research, analysis, consulting, finance, policy, journalism, or another relevant field.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to express ideas clearly and succinctly.
  • Strong familiarity with global politics; fluency in economic and market concepts preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate global trends into investor-relevant implications.
  • Intellectual curiosity and creativity, with a willingness to take initiative and “get hands dirty” on longer-term projects with light supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; comfortable managing multiple workstreams and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); familiarity with data analysis or data visualization tools is a plus.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • MA/MSc preferred

The applicable base salary range for this role is $55,000 to $60,000.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

At Eurasia Group, our mission is to provide the tools and understanding needed in a world where politics drives disruption. We put politics first for our clients, and we aspire to be the leading place people come to find out about the world. This requires us to maintain a company culture that puts people first.
