THE CENTER FOR RISING GENERATIONS

The Aspen Institute’s Center for Rising Generations (CRG) is dedicated to ensuring that civil dialogue, civic engagement, and leadership development become a predictable part of the journey to adulthood in our society and around the world. Inspired by the Aspen Institute’s strategic plan and supported by a generous endowment from the Bezos Family Foundation, the Center for Rising Generations:

  • Works to expand opportunities for, and elevate the voices of, youth and young adults at the Aspen Institute
  • Creates opportunities to convene and build community beyond the Aspen Institute
  • Encourages innovation that helps emphasize the assets that young people bring to help address today’s challenges

CRG supports placing early career professionals in high-responsibility positions throughout the Aspen Institute to create opportunities for career growth and to ensure youth voice is reflected across the Institute.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized intern to join us as the Center for Rising Generations Intern. This posiiton will report to the Director. The hourly rate for this opportunity is $18. The expectation is for this role to be in our Washington D.C. office a minimum of 2x a week to collaborate with colleagues.


WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Target Audience Profiling: Aggregate and analyze quantitative data from public and proprietary sources to define demographic profiles, geographic priorities, and engagement gaps for target audiences.

  • Landscape & Trend Analysis: Conduct comprehensive landscape assessments of ecosystem communications, identifying how peer organizations effectively engage specific or hard-to-reach demographics.

  • Stakeholder Enablement: Synthesize complex research into actionable briefs, memos, and communication templates (such as outreach campaigns and channel recommendations) to equip leadership and partnership teams for relationship-building.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Candidates will have the opportunity to work across projects to apply their skills, support other cohort members, and ensure that all projects are successful.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • Data-Driven Audience Segmentation: How to translate complex quantitative data and qualitative data into actionable recommendations.

  • Executive Communication & Knowledge Synthesis: How to distill high-level research and landscape analyses into concise, actionable deliverables (memos, briefs, and templates) tailored for leadership decision-making.

  • Cross-Functional Project Management: How to navigate a collaborative, cohort-based environment, balancing independent project ownership with team-wide support and integration.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO THRIVE

  • Must be a currently enrolled student.
  • Proven communication and organizational skills as well as attention to detail.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace products.
  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks.
