About This Position
Job Title: Research and Analytics Assistant

The Research and Analytics Assistant will support strategic research and analysis for issue and electoral campaigns.
This is a fixed-term position with an expected end date of Feb. 27, 2027.
Reports to: Director of Research and Analytics
Duties:
Support implementation of surveys including writing questions, monitoring and tracking data, and conducting analysis;
Develop tools, including using Excel and Google Sheets, to facilitate data analysis, including but not limited to creating and maintaining data visualizations and dashboards and communicating findings;
Gather publicly-available data to analyze social and economic trends to include but not limited to identifying trends; developing and contextualizing insights in quantitative and qualitative data; conducting analyses of both qualitative and quantitative data; and making recommendations based upon the results of analyses;
Maintain data clean-up processes and procedures including the standardization and organization of large data sets;
Establish metrics, analytics frameworks, and reports to assess the performance of various campaign initiatives, and Field and Digital teams;
Collaborate with the Working America staff to make sure that data is used to inform decision making across campaigns;
Creating and maintain data visualizations and dashboards to help identify trends and forecast possibilities, as well as communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders across the campaign;
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Knows, or are eager to learn and apply, any of the following software: VAN, GoogleSheets, SQL, GIS, Python, PowerPoint, and/or R
Knows and understands how to apply statistics to mine for actionable insights
Curiosity and mindset to understand the meaning behind data trends
Enjoys working with numbers and eager to learn
Understanding and interest in furthering usage of quantitative and qualitative data in political and organizing campaigns
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and able to adapt quickly to meet project needs
Strong background in, or desire to work in, the labor movement, movements for progressive social change, and political or issue campaigns
Demonstrated interest in making a career in the labor movement
Individuals of all education levels—including recent graduates from 2-year, 4-year, graduate, and technical schools—encouraged to apply
Must be able to work irregular and long hours
Ability to travel as needed

The Step 1 salary is $63,407, with additional steps considered for candidates with experience and qualifications beyond what is required above. Includes medical insurance, paid time off, and 401(k) with employer contribution.
The position is a bargaining unit position, represented by the Washington-Baltimore NewsGuild, TNG-CWA, Local 32035.
