Job Description

Senior Editor & Media Advisor

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Editor & Media Advisor based in Canada.

This is a high-impact editorial leadership role at the intersection of financial journalism, media relations, and content strategy, focused on shaping how millions of consumers understand mortgages and real estate. You will serve as a trusted subject matter expert, translating complex market and rate movements into clear, timely, and authoritative insights. The role combines hands-on content creation with strategic editorial leadership, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and strong performance across multiple channels. You will act as a public-facing voice of expertise in media interviews, video content, and industry commentary. At the same time, you will define and evolve editorial standards, workflows, and governance across a fast-moving digital content environment. This is a remote-first position offering a blend of autonomy, visibility, and cross-functional collaboration. The environment is data-informed, fast-paced, and mission-driven, with a strong focus on helping consumers make better financial decisions.

Accountabilities:
  • Act as the primary mortgage and real estate subject matter expert, representing the brand in media interviews, commentary opportunities, and external communications.
  • Produce, write, and edit high-quality, accurate, and timely content across multiple formats including articles, landing pages, newsletters, video scripts, and social media.
  • Translate market trends, rate changes, and industry developments into clear, insightful, and consumer-focused editorial content.
  • Maintain and continuously update core mortgage-related content to ensure accuracy, relevance, and SEO performance.
  • Collaborate with internal mortgage and brokerage teams to incorporate real-time insights into editorial output.
  • Define and uphold editorial voice, style standards, and governance frameworks across all content channels.
  • Manage editorial planning, content calendars, and workflows to balance timely market coverage with long-term strategy.
  • Review, edit, and approve content from writers, freelancers, and contributors to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Lead content performance analysis using SEO, traffic, and engagement data to identify opportunities and gaps.
  • Serve as the lead for sponsored content production and act as a key liaison between editorial and external partners.
Requirements:
  • 6–10 years of editorial, journalism, or content leadership experience in digital media, fintech, or financial services.
  • Strong expertise in personal finance content, ideally with deep knowledge of mortgages and real estate in Canada.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to simplify complex financial concepts for a broad audience.
  • Experience producing content across multiple formats including articles, landing pages, newsletters, and video scripts.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian mortgage products, lending structures, and real estate market dynamics.
  • Solid knowledge of SEO best practices, including keyword research, on-page optimization, and content performance analysis.
  • Experience using analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, or similar platforms to inform editorial decisions.
  • Proven ability to manage freelancers, editors, and cross-functional stakeholders in a high-output content environment.
  • Comfortable serving as a public-facing expert or spokesperson in media, video, or podcast settings.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Preferred: experience with financial journalism networks, AI-assisted content tools, and GEO/AI search optimization strategies.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary aligned with experience and Canadian market standards
  • Remote-first work model with flexibility to work from anywhere in Canada
  • Flexible working hours supporting strong work-life balance
  • Comprehensive health and dental coverage with no employee-paid premiums
  • RRSP matching program to support long-term financial planning
  • Annual professional development and training budget
  • Regular virtual and in-person team events and social activities
  • Opportunity to shape a high-visibility editorial voice in the Canadian financial space.
