Job Description

Director, Market Access Lead

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Market Access Lead based in the United States.

This is a strategic global market access leadership role supporting the expansion and commercialization of innovative therapies in complex autoimmune diseases. You will shape access, pricing, and reimbursement strategies across the U.S. and key international markets. The role spans pipeline development, indication expansion, launch readiness, and lifecycle management in a highly competitive specialty pharmaceutical environment. You will work closely with clinical development, commercial, HEOR, regional market access, and country teams to ensure evidence and value strategies meet payer needs. The position requires strong understanding of HTA and reimbursement landscapes, alongside the ability to translate scientific and economic evidence into compelling access strategies. It offers the opportunity to influence major development and commercialization decisions while working in a highly collaborative, science-driven global organization.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead strategic market access planning for the Myasthenia Gravis therapeutic area, with a focus on indication expansion, global launches, next-generation products, and lifecycle management.
  • Assess the market access potential of pipeline assets and indications, including indication sequencing, target product profiles, target pricing levels, and overall access strategy.
  • Partner with clinical development teams to optimize trial designs based on payer requirements and regional access needs.
  • Coordinate early scientific advice with key HTA agencies and conduct access gap analyses with external advisors and consultants.
  • Collaborate with commercial and indication development teams to align market access, pricing, and commercial positioning.
  • Evaluate unmet medical needs, payer decision-making, reimbursement environments, HTA requirements, and product outlooks across priority markets.
  • Develop and inform global pricing strategies, including pricing research, payer expectations, value propositions, and contracting considerations.
  • Test payer value messages and pricing assumptions through advisory boards and research with payers and HTA stakeholders.
  • Develop core value dossiers, objection handlers, and other materials supporting regional and local access strategies.
  • Design innovative global and regional access strategies, including early-access approaches, launch scenarios, risk mitigation plans, and go/no-go assessments.
  • Build and validate contracting options and gross-to-net assumptions in partnership with relevant commercial and access stakeholders.
  • Partner with HEOR and regional market access teams to strengthen evidence-generation strategies, epidemiology assessments, and analyses of unmet medical need.
  • Guide the development of health economic and outcomes analyses, including cost-effectiveness analyses, budget impact assessments, and burden-of-disease studies.
  • Facilitate launch-readiness workshops with regional and local market access teams and other cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Manage external agency relationships and ensure strategic programs are delivered effectively across global and regional teams.
  • Influence and align diverse stakeholders while navigating complex decisions, competing priorities, and evolving market conditions.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, with at least 5 years specifically focused on market access and pricing.
  • Demonstrated experience developing global and regional market access and pricing strategies for specialty medicines, particularly within the U.S. and/or key European markets.
  • Experience supporting launches and commercialization of therapies in orphan, rare disease, or other specialty pharmaceutical markets.
  • Deep understanding of payer needs, reimbursement decision-making, HTA processes, and key market access stakeholders and influencers.
  • Experience partnering closely with clinical development teams and incorporating payer requirements into development strategies and evidence plans.
  • Strong understanding of pricing research, value propositions, contracting strategies, reimbursement dynamics, and access risk assessment.
  • Experience working with HEOR teams and interpreting evidence relevant to cost-effectiveness, budget impact, disease burden, and payer decision-making.
  • Advanced graduate-level education in natural sciences, medicine, business, engineering, finance, health economics, life sciences, or a related discipline; a master’s degree is required, with an MBA or Ph.D. preferred.
  • Strong leadership and team-management capabilities, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams without relying solely on formal authority.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, critical reasoning, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues and clearly articulate potential solutions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills within multicultural and multilingual global environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage external agencies, multiple priorities, and complex projects under pressure.
  • High learning agility and the ability to understand highly technical scientific concepts and translate them into practical market access strategies.
  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity, adapting to changing priorities, building trust, and maintaining resilience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outcome-oriented, curious, collaborative, and committed to continuous learning and development.
  • Fluent English communication skills are required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly as required by the role.
Benefits
  • Competitive annual base salary, with the locally applicable hiring range shared during the recruitment process based on location and market conditions.
  • Eligibility for short-term and long-term incentive programs.
  • Opportunity to influence global market access strategy for innovative therapies addressing significant unmet needs in autoimmune disease.
  • Exposure to cross-functional, international teams spanning commercial, clinical development, HEOR, regulatory, and regional market access.
  • A highly collaborative and science-driven environment with opportunities for professional growth and leadership development.
  • Inclusive workplace focused on co-creation, innovation, empowerment, excellence, and humility.
  • Opportunities to work on pipeline development, indication expansion, global launches, and long-term product lifecycle strategies.
  • Regular international collaboration and travel in a global pharmaceutical environment.
  • Remote flexibility, including opportunities based in the United States, subject to applicable location requirements.
