Company Description UBMD Internal Medicine (UBMDIM) is an academic medical practice affiliated with the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo. The practice includes 135 primary and specialty care physicians and 187 staff members across 16 hospital and outpatient clinic locations, making Internal Medicine the largest practice plan in the UBMD Physicians’ Group. UBMDIM physicians care for patients, teach future medical professionals, and conduct research to discover new treatments for diseases. Team members contribute to meaningful advances in Buffalo-area healthcare while supporting high-quality patient care and medical education.
Role Description The Business Coordinator is a full-time, on-site role based in Amgerst, NY. This position supports daily business operations, including scheduling, documentation management, and administrative coordination across clinic locations. The role involves assisting with billing and finance-related tasks, maintaining accurate records, and preparing basic reports to support practice management decisions. The Business Coordinator serves as a primary point of contact for internal teams and external partners, responds to inquiries, and helps ensure a positive experience for patients and staff. The position also supports process improvements, adheres to organizational policies, and collaborates with clinical and administrative leadership to keep operations running efficiently.
Qualifications
1. Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills and basic Finance knowledge to support reporting, billing, and operational decision-making.
2. Candidates should possess excellent Communication skills to interact effectively with physicians, staff, patients, and external partners.
3. Candidates should possess solid Administrative Assistance skills, including scheduling, documentation management, and proficiency with office software (e.g., MS Office, electronic health record systems).
4. Candidates should possess effective Customer Service skills to handle inquiries, resolve issues, and support a professional, patient-centered environment.
5. Additional beneficial qualifications include experience in healthcare or medical practice settings, strong organizational and time-management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
6. An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience, is preferred.
