Job Description
Summary: Assists the Yard Foreman in directing and overseeing, the yard staff to assure effective and efficient operations in accordance with established policy and procedures. Shift is from 10am to 7 pm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
- Provides leadership, by personal participation in daily workload.
- Assists in the supervision of the yard staff, and assigns individuals daily duties and tasks.
- Ensures that the staff performs prompt, quality customer service.
- Assists in the training and development of the Yardmen performance and customer-relations habits.
- Encourages individual potential and encourages personal growth amongst the staff.
- Assists with ensuring the accuracy on all deliveries.
- Performs all daily tasks and duties as directed by the Yard Foreman.
- Communicates and enforces company policies and procedures.
- Advises Yard Foreman any of concerns or issues as they arise and follows up as directed.
- Welcomes communication and suggestions from staff.
- Recognizes and immediately reports any signs or indications of theft to Yard Foreman.
- Handles disciplinary actions regarding unacceptable behavior or performance of yard staff.
- Assists with associate evaluations.
- Handles customer complaints within the yard and ensures that issues are resolved where possible.
- Exercises discretion and confidentiality in all communications both internal and external.
- Coordinates and complies with requirements of all top management and staff departments.
- Must have strong product knowledge.
- Works closely with the Yard Foreman and must be able to perform the Yard Foreman duties in his absence such as receiving, inventory, and dispatch functions.
- Ensures good house keeping is maintained in the yard at all times.
- Responsible for correcting safety concerns or issues as they arise.
- Maintains a professional attitude and appearance.
As with all other jobs, other duties may be assigned. Management reserves the right to reassign an individual in this position to another position in the interest of efficient personnel utilization.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervisors 5 or more associate’s assigned to the yard. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable Federal and State Laws. Responsibilities include training associates, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and / or Experience
Associates Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one to two years of related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and comprehend correspondence and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers, associates, and venders.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percents, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardizations exist.

Forklift training and demonstrated continuing forklift operation competency required.
Must be proficient in the Epicor Computer System. Must be proficient in Cycle Count Procedures.
