This role is designed for an experienced mortgage professional who specializes in reverse mortgage lending and thrives in a self-directed, relationship-driven environment.
You will help homeowners aged 62 and older understand how home equity can support their financial and retirement goals.
The position combines consultative lending, business development, referral relationship management, and end-to-end loan origination.
You will leverage an existing network while developing new relationships with borrowers, referral partners, community contacts, and industry professionals.
Success requires strong knowledge of reverse mortgage products, sound judgment, and the ability to structure and price loans accurately.
You will work closely with operational support teams to guide applications through the origination process while maintaining quality and marketability standards.
This is an opportunity for a proven, self-generating originator to build a meaningful book of business while delivering personalized financing solutions.
- Build rapport with prospective borrowers and leverage existing professional and community relationships to generate new reverse mortgage business.
- Consult with customers to understand their financial circumstances, retirement objectives, and financing needs, then recommend appropriate reverse mortgage solutions.
- Develop and maintain referral relationships with past clients, industry professionals, community contacts, and other business partners to generate a consistent pipeline of opportunities.
- Guide borrowers through the reverse mortgage application and loan origination process, working closely with operational support staff to keep applications progressing efficiently.
- Gather, input, and upload borrower and application information accurately into the applicable loan origination systems.
- Structure and price reverse mortgage loans accurately in accordance with established lending guidelines and applicable requirements.
- Ensure loan recommendations and applications align with borrower needs as well as quality, compliance, and marketability standards.
- Research and resolve complex loan scenarios, applying sound judgment and problem-solving skills throughout the origination process.
- Maintain appropriate handling of confidential borrower and financial information.
- Consistently pursue new business opportunities and manage the responsibilities associated with a self-generated production pipeline.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Minimum of 2 years of full-time reverse mortgage loan origination experience, preferably with an established local-market presence.
- Proven experience with reverse mortgage loan products and a strong understanding of the loan origination process.
- Active NMLS license.
- Demonstrated ability to structure and price loans accurately.
- Proven track record as a successful loan originator with strong production results.
- Demonstrated ability to self-source reverse mortgage business through referral partners, past clients, community relationships, professional networks, and other business-development activities.
- Strong judgment, research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex situations and handle confidential information responsibly.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, consultative, and relationship-building skills.
- Highly self-motivated and entrepreneurial, with the discipline to work independently and consistently develop new business.
- High school diploma or GED required; additional education or relevant professional experience is an advantage.
- Ability to verify identity and employment eligibility to work in the United States.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, including prolonged periods of sitting or standing, regular keyboard and office-equipment use, occasional bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting or moving items weighing up to 10 pounds.
- Commission-based compensation structure, with basis points to be determined.
