Senior Engineering Manager, Retailer Platform

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Engineering Manager, Retailer Platform in Canada.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced engineering professional passionate about building scalable enterprise platforms in a fast-growing technology environment. In this role, you will lead a senior engineering team responsible for foundational architecture and integrations that power large-scale retail and commerce operations. You will shape technical strategy across multi-tenant systems, data isolation, extensibility, and omnichannel platform services while collaborating closely with product, ML, data, and infrastructure teams. The position offers the chance to influence large-scale architectural transformations, mentor top engineering talent, and drive platform innovation used by major retail partners. Ideal candidates thrive in ambiguity, enjoy solving complex distributed systems challenges, and excel at aligning technical execution with long-term business growth.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers across multiple platform and infrastructure initiatives, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Define and drive the technical vision around multi-tenancy, data isolation, platform extensibility, and configuration-driven architecture.
  • Oversee the consolidation of specialized retailer and commerce services into scalable shared platform solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Data Engineering, Machine Learning, and Commerce to align priorities and architectural decisions.
  • Support the development of enterprise tooling such as sandbox environments, retailer-facing configuration systems, and self-service integration capabilities.
  • Guide large-scale architectural transitions, ensuring platform scalability, operational efficiency, and high engineering quality standards.
  • Manage technical trade-offs, roadmap alignment, resource planning, and stakeholder communication in a fast-evolving environment.
  • Partner with engineering leaders and senior contributors to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable distributed systems.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience managing engineering teams in platform, infrastructure, or enterprise technology environments.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams of 10+ engineers, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development.
  • Strong background in distributed systems, API and SDK design, cloud infrastructure, and scalable platform architecture.
  • Experience leading architectural transformations such as replatforming, multi-tenancy implementation, consolidation initiatives, or data isolation strategies.
  • Demonstrated success navigating ambiguity and driving alignment across multiple teams and business stakeholders.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills with the ability to influence technical and product strategy.
  • Experience working with cloud technologies such as AWS or GCP.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in commerce platforms, retail technology, enterprise integrations, or connected-store ecosystems is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with ML and Data Engineering collaboration, including data compliance or model infrastructure initiatives, is considered a strong advantage.
Benefits:
  • Competitive annual base salary ranging from CAD $229,000 to $241,500 depending on location and experience.
  • Eligibility for equity grants and annual refresh grants.
  • Flexible remote-first work model with strong emphasis on work-life balance.
  • Comprehensive health and wellness benefits package.
  • Opportunities for career growth, leadership development, and continuous learning.
  • Inclusive and collaborative company culture focused on innovation and impact.
  • Access to team-building events and in-person community gatherings.
  • High-visibility role with the opportunity to shape enterprise-scale platform strategy and architecture.
  • Work alongside talented engineering, product, and data teams in a rapidly growing technology organization.
