This role is responsible for executing and shaping a global technology OEM strategy within the industrial business. You’ll serve as a key bridge between technology, sales, and global account management teams, aligning technical priorities with commercial objectives. The position combines strategic relationship management, technical expertise, project leadership, and market intelligence. You’ll build long-term relationships with OEMs, additive suppliers, industry associations, and universities to identify emerging technologies and future opportunities. A major focus will be securing product approvals, endorsements, and recommendations that strengthen competitive positioning and support business growth. You’ll also translate customer needs, engineering developments, and industry trends into actionable technology strategies. With a hybrid work model and up to 50% travel, this is an influential role for a technically minded professional who enjoys working across global teams and with senior external stakeholders.
- Execute and help shape the global technology OEM strategy for the industrial business, supporting the development of technology strategies for strategic OEM relationships.
- Partner closely with Sales and Global Account Management teams to align commercial priorities with the technology OEM strategy and identify opportunities for growth.
- Develop and manage strategic technical relationships with OEMs, key additive suppliers, industry associations, universities, and other relevant external partners.
- Build deep knowledge of industrial applications, processes, product chemistries, competitive technologies, and the evolving requirements of OEM customers.
- Identify emerging technologies, innovative products, engineering developments, and market trends that can create new opportunities or strengthen competitive differentiation.
- Secure and maintain OEM recommendations, endorsements, approvals, and technical qualifications for relevant industrial products and services.
- Independently project-manage global technology OEM initiatives, establishing plans, coordinating stakeholders, tracking progress, and providing regular updates.
- Identify customer needs and industry trends and incorporate relevant insights into global technology and commercial strategies.
- Coordinate the execution, documentation, and reporting of OEM projects while ensuring alignment with Sales and Global Account Management teams.
- Conduct regular customer visits to strengthen relationships with technical management and expand engagement across OEM organizations.
- Organize and coordinate Strategy and Technology Days with strategic OEM partners.
- Gather, analyze, and document information on key OEMs, market developments, industry trends, applications, and competitive activity.
- Deliver technical presentations and lectures at relevant trade shows, industry meetings, and customer events.
- Support the planning and acquisition of customer approvals while coordinating technical and commercial requirements with internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to knowledge management by documenting relevant findings and sharing insights with the wider technology, sales, marketing, and account management communities.
- Define, monitor, and report relevant KPIs to measure the effectiveness and execution of the technology OEM strategy.
- Represent the technology function at relevant industry bodies, trade shows, and external forums.
- Work with OEM partners on co-engineering initiatives to capture emerging technical trends and strategic developments.
- Support, coach, and mentor team members to strengthen technical and commercial capabilities.
- Ensure all activities comply with applicable HSSE, quality management, compliance, and safety standards.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in chemistry, engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience within the additives, lubricants, or a related industrial technology sector.
- Strong customer-facing, relationship-management, influencing, and negotiation experience, ideally involving OEMs or other strategic technical customers.
- Solid knowledge of lubricant applications and industrial product technologies.
- Deep understanding of tribology and its relevance to lubricant performance and engineering applications.
- Strong strategic-thinking capabilities, with the ability to connect technical developments and customer requirements to broader business objectives.
- In-depth understanding of current and emerging engineering, lubricant, technology, and industry trends.
- Ability to work effectively across functions, geographies, cultures, and organizational levels, including interaction with senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to technical and commercial audiences.
- Demonstrated project-management capabilities and the ability to independently coordinate complex, globally oriented initiatives.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to convert technical, customer, and market information into practical strategic recommendations.
- Established network of contacts within the relevant industrial, OEM, additives, lubricant, academic, or technology communities is highly desirable.
- International or intercultural experience is an advantage.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% as required.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid office/remote environment.
- Competitive annual base salary range of $105,000–$155,000 USD, depending on relevant experience, qualifications, and other factors.
