Job Description
Hyperion Solutions is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our Elevator Equipment location, in Richmond IN. This position will be a key contributor to our manufacturing process by playing a vital role in designing and developing cutting-edge mechanical solutions that drive our company’s success.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Safety and Continuous Improvement:
o Promote a safe work environment and identify opportunities for continuous
improvement of our process, our product and our environment.
Product Design and Development:
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, and quality assurance, to conceptualize and design mechanical components and systems.
o Utilize CAD software (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent) to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
o Ensure that designs meet functional requirements, safety standards, and manufacturability guidelines.
o Iterate designs based on feedback and testing to achieve optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
Prototyping and Testing:
o Create prototypes and mock-ups of mechanical designs to validate concepts and assess their feasibility.
o Plan and conduct various tests, including stress analysis, thermal analysis, and tolerance analysis, to evaluate the performance and reliability of designs.
o Interpret test results and implement necessary design modifications for continuous improvement.
Collaboration and Communication:
o Collaborate closely with other engineers, designers, and project managers to align design goals with project timelines.
o Communicate design concepts, specifications, and progress effectively through written reports, presentations, and discussions.
Technical Documentation:
o Generate comprehensive engineering documentation, including drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical specifications, to support the manufacturing process.
o Ensure that all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible to the relevant teams.
Manufacturing Training:
o Work closely with the manufacturing team to provide technical guidance during the production process, addressing any design-related issues that may arise.
o Collaborate with suppliers to select appropriate materials and components, considering cost, availability, and quality.
Performance Analysis:
o Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production, quality and efficiency. Analyze data, identify trends and develop action plans to address any performance gaps.
o Identify capital expenditure needs and build the support necessary to justify the expenditures.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field required
• 7-10 years of proven experience in mechanical design within the elevator industry preferred.
• Proven leadership experience, with a track record of successfully managing and developing engineering teams
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other relevant engineering tools.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with simulation and analysis tools for stress, thermal, and tolerance analysis.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities for team collaboration and client interaction.
• Experience with project management, from concept to completion, is a plus.
