The ideal candidate combines deep inpatient pharmacy expertise with executive leadership, regulatory knowledge, financial acumen, and the ability to translate clinical and operational data into enterprise strategy.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and execute an enterprise pharmacy strategy aligned with clinical priorities, organizational objectives, regulatory requirements, and financial goals.
  • Establish consistent pharmacy operating standards, corporate directives, policies, procedures, and governance practices across the organization.
  • Monitor pharmacy operations, medication utilization, quality indicators, financial performance, and emerging trends to identify enterprise risks and opportunities.

  • Provide strategic oversight of pharmacy budgets, purchasing, inventory management, medication sourcing, and cost-containment initiatives.
  • Partner with Medical Executive Directors, Medical Directors, and the Chief Clinical Officer to develop evidence-based medication guidelines and promote clinically appropriate medication utilization.
  • Lead enterprise formulary strategy, including evaluation of medication utilization, clinical effectiveness, additions and deletions, standardization opportunities, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Monitor organizational compliance with federal and state pharmacy laws, regulatory requirements, licensing standards, and professional practice requirements across applicable jurisdictions.
  • Provide enterprise oversight of accreditation readiness and compliance with applicable standards, including The Joint Commission (TJC), Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and other accrediting organizations.
  • Conduct and oversee routine assessments of facility pharmacy operations and medication storage practices, identifying risks and developing corrective action strategies.
  • Provide executive-level pharmacy consultation and support during regulatory, client, and accreditation surveys and site visits.
  • Oversee pharmacy Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) programs, evaluate performance trends, and ensure identified opportunities result in sustainable corrective actions.
  • Provide clinical pharmacy leadership through medication-use evaluation, drug regimen review, and pharmacotherapeutic consultation on complex cases when appropriate.
  • Lead the corporate Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee and establish effective pharmacy governance across applicable facility-level committees.
  • Evaluate pharmacy operating models and recommend organizational, operational, technological, and managerial improvements that enhance quality, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Provide strategic oversight of pharmacy vendors and purchasing relationships, including Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs), primary wholesalers, secondary wholesalers, and other pharmacy partners.
  • Serve as the executive liaison between Pharmacy Services, executive leadership, medical leadership, clinical operations, facility administration, Finance, Compliance, and external pharmacy partners.
