Job Description
Job Summary:
The Transport Coordinator reports directly to and assists the Logistics Supervisor in all areas of supply transport to outside facilities. Effectively coordinates schedules to maximize efficient delivery of supplies and equipment to offsite facilities. Routinely in services Supply Chain transporters in areas such as hydraulic lift gate, vehicle operation and safe driving techniques. Consistently insures the routine inspection of Forrest General Hospital (FGH) vehicles and their maintenance. Ensures that deliveries are signed for in the tracking portion of the MMIS to avoid lost packages.
Performance Expectations:
After orientation and training, this employee will be expected to demonstrate competencies in these areas:
- Provides training on hydraulic lift gate and vehicle operation to Supply Chain transporters.
- Trains and tests transporters on safe and courteous driving techniques in FGH vehicles.
- Gathers information from supervisors and employees following training sessions to ensure effective transfer of knowledge and to refine training.
- Works through conflict with departments and team members to create win-win solutions.
- Communicates and collaborates effectively and respectfully with patient care areas and team members.
- Answers the phone promptly and professionally. Always identifies the department and him/herself when answering the phone.
- Responds promptly to requests of customers.
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with patient care areas and managers.
- Straightens assigned area before and after each shift.
- Makes sure that products are at least 18” from the ceiling and at least 4” off the floor.
- Monitors transporters to make sure they are routinely inspecting FGH vehicles and maintenance is being completed.
- Promptly organizes pick tickets.
- Accurately picks orders according to pick tickets. Notes discrepancies or changes on pick tickets.
- Delivers products the same day the requisition is created or according to schedule.
- Always gets a signature and employee number when making a delivery
- Performs other duties as directed by Logistics Supervisor or Director.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Mechanical courses are helpful.
Work Experience:
Work experience in warehouse, delivery of healthcare supplies and equipment preferred. Experience
with materials transportation and handling desirable.
Certification/Licensure—DUE UPON HIRE
- Valid Driver's License
Mental Demands:
Ability to perform repetitive tasks, cooperate with others, take orders, and give and follow directions precisely and demonstrate initiative. Constantly be aware of surroundings to ensure vehicle safety.
