This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of accounting across a portfolio of venture funds.
You will own accounting standards, policies, interpretations, and complex judgment calls across multiple fund structures.
As a senior accounting leader, you will serve as the final escalation point for challenging accounting questions and edge cases.
You will work closely with fund accountants, treasury and compliance teams, auditors, and tax providers to ensure reliable financial outputs.
The role also provides an opportunity to influence how accounting requirements are translated into scalable workflows, controls, and technology.
You will help identify recurring operational complexity and partner with Product and Engineering teams to build more efficient solutions.

- Own accounting standards, interpretations, and policies across supported venture funds, ensuring they are consistently applied across different structures and vehicles.
- Serve as the final escalation point for complex accounting questions, technical issues, and unusual or ambiguous fund accounting scenarios.
- Review and approve financial outputs that require significant accounting judgment, ensuring they are accurate, consistent, and defensible.
- Establish consistent accounting treatment across multiple funds, investment vehicles, and structural arrangements.
- Partner with external audit and tax providers to facilitate accurate, efficient, and predictable reviews.
- Guide Senior Fund Accountants in interpreting accounting standards, resolving complex issues, and applying appropriate accounting treatments.
- Provide clear accounting guidance and establish frameworks that help fund accounting teams make consistent decisions.
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to translate accounting requirements, standards, controls, and edge cases into scalable systems and workflows.
- Identify recurring accounting complexity and determine where automation, tooling, or process improvements can reduce manual intervention.
- Contribute accounting expertise to the development and improvement of internal platforms, controls, and operational processes.
- Support fund migrations, restructuring activities, and other changes to fund structures from an accounting perspective.
- Help strengthen accounting processes and standards as the organization and its portfolio of supported funds continue to scale.
Requirements
- Bring 7–10+ years of experience in fund accounting or fund administration, with significant responsibility for complex accounting matters.
- Have a deep understanding of venture capital or private equity fund structures and the workflows involved in fund administration.
- Demonstrate proven experience making, documenting, and defending accounting judgments in complex, multi-fund environments.
- Have experience working with Limited Partnership Agreements and understanding their accounting implications.
- Demonstrate experience partnering with Product, Engineering, or technology teams to translate accounting requirements into scalable systems, workflows, controls, or tools.
- Bring strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities, particularly when navigating ambiguous situations or accounting edge cases.
- Be able to assess complex accounting issues, establish clear positions, and communicate decisions consistently across stakeholders.
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain sophisticated accounting concepts clearly to non-accounting professionals.
- Demonstrate a collaborative leadership style focused on clarity, consistency, and enabling others to make sound accounting decisions.
- Be comfortable operating in a remote, fast-moving, and continuously evolving organization.
- Prior experience working with venture capital funds or venture operations at scale is highly desirable.
- Experience building, implementing, or improving accounting systems, platforms, or internal tools is a plus.
- A background in audit or public accounting is also beneficial.
