Position Summary, Senior Trade Compliance Coordinator
NY Creates is seeking an experienced Global Trade Compliance professional to support expanding international partnerships, sourcing, and operations for NY Creates semiconductor manufacturing, test, assembly, and packaging R&D activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute all centralized functions of the institutional Global Trade Compliance program to meet programmatic requirements and comply with applicable import, export, and sanctions regulations for all NY Creates activities
- Assist in providing accurate and reliable interpretation of international trade policy and regulations, including analysis of organizational cost and risk to group leadership and other internal stakeholders
- Develop, implement, update, and support programs, policies, and procedures related to global trade regulations to include the instantiation of artifacts and workflows into internal processes, functions, and operations
- Assist cross-functional teams on new opportunities with the evaluation of regulatory, contractual, and cost obligations
- Work with program managers on the successful execution of international engagements
- Coordinate with Procurement and internal teams on overseas vendor guidance, import compliance, and cost analysis
- Manage and execute tactical regulatory compliance functions including but not limited to denied parties, end-use, end-user and embargo screening, anti-boycott, commodity jurisdiction, hardware and technology classification, government authorizations and licensing, customs clearance, deemed export, technology and area control plans
- Assist in the administration of government platforms including all formal export and import declarations involving valuation, classification, license determination, country of origin, temporary exports & imports, duties, and tariffs
- Work cross functionally with departments such as Human Resources, Procurement, Office of General Counsel, Sponsored Programs, Project Management Office, Site Security, Travel, Shipping, Information Security, IT, Finance and other applicable functions to consult, advise, and create awareness around trade control policies, processes and practices
- Provide guidance and training to employees regarding regulatory and programmatic compliance requirements to include sitewide awareness campaigns, targeted training exercises, and executive summaries
- Assist with government or partner inquiries on matters of trade compliance
- Perform and participate in periodic trade compliance assessments identifying and investigating potential compliance risks, gaps, or violations, implementing prompt risk mitigation and recommending appropriate remedial actions, reporting, and disclosures
- Work with internal departments, The Research Foundation Office of General Counsel, and external entities on special projects as needed
- Perform other reasonable duties as may be assigned by or through the Director of GRC and Trade Compliance
- Travel between the sites in Albany and Rochester may be required.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications, Senior Trade Compliance Coordinator
- Three years of professional experience including broad responsibilities for an organizational trade compliance program
- Associates 's degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and pivot in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent diplomacy skills and an ability to forge consensus among different stakeholder positions and balance varying points of view
- Candidate must be a self-starter, able to work both independently and as part of integrated teams, highly organized, and possess strong computer, verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications, Senior Trade Compliance Coordinator
- Bachelor's or advanced degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization
- Experience working within a manufacturing or R&D environment; prior experience in semiconductor industry and IC manufacturing desired
- Experience in affecting cross-functional communication and change within a diverse organizational environment

Salary Range: $90,000-$110,000
*Posted salary ranges re determined upon experience and education.
