They operate security screening checkpoints by screening visitors and their belongings. They help maintain a safe, secure and professional environment for all who enter the Court building. General Description of Typical Tasks:
Check identification of persons entering and exiting the facility to eliminate unauthorized visitors.
Conduct comprehensive X-ray screenings of baggage, parcels, personal items and individual belongings to detect and prevent potential security threats and ensure a safe environment.
Maintain a secure environment in a fast paced court setting, answering routine inquiries, addressing any concerns of the public, and directing visitors to the correct area.
Respond to activation of the emergency alarm system or critical incidents; ensuring patrons/staff vacate and assemble safely or lockdown, depending on the specific situation identified.
Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.

Required Qualifications:
VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Requires high school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: In addition to satisfying the vocational/educational standard, this class requires a minimum of three months of related, full-time equivalent experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: May be required to be certified by the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), depending on assignment. Depending on operational needs, may require a valid driver’s license and a driving record in compliance with City driving standards.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
