Job Description

The purpose of the Navigation Specialist position is to support the administration of the company’s commercial vehicle navigation systems to ensure they are consistent and effective. This includes reviewing reported navigation issues, mapping/geofencing sites, ensuring Drivewyse content for accuracy, and obtaining driver and operations feedback on navigation systems. Additionally, the Navigation team may have responsibilities in non-navigation specific systems/workflows based on an indirect impact or overlap with the navigation program itself.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and summarize individual events related to navigation reported by Drivers and Operations team members in multiple systems (Co-Pilot, Navigo, PC Miller, Trimble, Drivewyse, Platform Science, Omnitracs, etc.) and report results to Navigation Manager
  • Map and geofence locations within navigation related systems
  • Audit content in Drivewyse for accuracy, report needed edits to Navigation Manager
  • Complete reports as assigned by Navigation Manager
  • Communicate with Drivers and Operations team members regarding navigation and collect feedback on navigation systems
  • Conduct navigation systems training for non-navigation team staff
  • Report to Navigation Manager on current system issues
  • Maintain a consistent navigation experience for Drivers
  • Attend meetings to learn how navigation impacts other areas of the company

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, in person and web based.
  • Strong documentation skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Office 365, Teams)
  • U.S. geographical skills and ability to read maps.
  • Ability to learn applicable software both directly and indirectly related to navigation
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Education/Experience

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Experience with Co-Pilot, Navigo, Drivewyse, Telogis, Omnitracs, Platform Science, or other commercial navigation/telematics platforms preferred
  • Experience with GIS (geographic information system) or other mapping systems preferred
  • Transportation industry experience highly desired

The posted range reflects the full pay band for the position. The expected pay range below represents where most candidates are hired, based on experience, skills, and internal equity. Candidates with more extensive or highly relevant experience may be considered toward the higher end of the overall pay band.

  • Expected Pay Range: $16.40-$18.10
  • Full Pay Range: $16.40-$24.20
  • Pay Grade: 4
