DIRECTOR - QUALITY SERVICES

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Director of Quality Services, is responsible for the strategic assessment, planning, implementation, and continuous evaluation of all aspects of Quality Services encompassing Infection Prevention, Patient Advocacy, and Performance Improvement/Quality Assurance, and Risk Management Plan for the Aultman Alliance Community Hospital.

The Director of Quality Services:

1. Provides leadership, goal development, and strategic direction.

2. Operates the department within the mission of the Hospital and aligns departmental goals with the Hospital’s strategic plan.

3. Coordinates inter-departmental activities with other directors, the Executive Team, and Board Members.

4. Develops/revises/implements a system-wide Performance Improvement (PI) Program.

5. Oversees/develops and facilitates implementation of policies and procedures for the department: Patient Advocacy, Infection Control, Risk Management, Clinical Quality, and Performance Improvement.

6. Provides ongoing educational inservices to physicians and colleagues on performance improvement related topics.

7. Oversees data collection/submission/education for the Core Measures project. Maintains current knowledge of clinical quality requirements.

8. Collects/analyzes/presents/educates physicians, Board of Trustees, and colleagues on PI, Core Measures/Hospital peer review (KePRO) data and Patient Satisfaction.

9. Attends meetings pertinent to PI, functions as chair of Quality Council

10. Develops/implements care paths in collaboration with physicians, APNs, and colleagues.

11. Coordinates collection of system-wide PI data; develops/maintains quality dashboards.

12. Oversees posting of quality data to the organization.

13. Functions as Patient Safety Officer; assists organization to comply with National Patient Safety Goals.

14. Oversees organization’s Infection Control Program and assists Infection Control Specialist to implement and maintain compliance with Infection Control Program.

15. Serves as the Risk Management Liaison to implement and maintain a Risk Management Program at Aultman Alliance Community Hospital.

16. Functions as patient advocate using the HEAT method of response to patient complaints, with follow through to resolution including documentation.

17. Oversees data collection/evaluation of Patient Satisfaction Surveys.

18. Coordinates organizational wide HFAP continual readiness.

19. Develops/meets appropriate KRAs (Key Result Areas) with reasonable timeliness and measurable outcomes.

20. Works collaboratively with all colleagues on the development and sustainment of a Culture of Safety

21. Responsible for checking emails and online learning assignments (SWANK) on a regular basis.

22. Responsible for the oversight of all Root Cause Analyses and any associated Corrective Action Plans.

AGE APPROPRIATE CARE:

Colleague has been instructed in providing customer service and on interacting with age groups as related to the department’s general client population: including use of appropriate interventions, communication, and skills to match the age and/or abilities of the patient/family.

MACHINES, TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED:

  1. Computer/Printer
  2. Copy machine
  3. Fax machine
  4. Working knowledge of Word and Excel computer programs.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

  1. Registered Nurse, graduate of accredited nursing school with current Ohio license; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  2. Proven experience in quality assurance/improvement programs and statistical analysis methodologies.
  3. Certified Professional Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification preferred or willingness to complete
  4. Extensive clinical nursing background, management experience preferred.
  5. Must be computer-literate to complete task(s) as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to see clearly and hear normal speaking tones.
  2. Able to communicate verbally, interpersonally and over the telephone in a clear voice.
  3. Dexterity necessary to write legibly.
  4. Able to sit and stand for extended periods of time up to 7.5 hours a day.
