State Fair Community College is an accessible, learning-centered institution, enriching its students and community by providing skills, knowledge and perspectives essential for a changing world.
The TRiO peer tutor position is a part time job offering 3-17 hours per week. Schedules will vary and are flexible depending on the individuals own class schedule. The primary duty will be to provide tutoring for TRiO students in classes the tutor is qualified to tutor. At this time, we are looking for students who can tutor science courses, in particular Human Anatomy. However, students interested in tutoring other subject areas may apply.
Peer tutors will monitor the TRiO computer lab and keep activities within the computer lab education based as well as keeping the area clean and reporting any equipment issues to the TRiO Coordinator. Tutors are also responsible for keeping track of who they meet with and providing basic help navigating Canvas, Microsoft Word and MySFCC.
Must be a current State Fair Community College student with preference given to current TRiO students. Candidates must possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher and have successfully passed any course the individual will be tutoring with a minimum final grade of a B. Candidates should be able to perform all duties with accuracy, efficiency, and professionalism. The candidate should be able to work with and properly interact with a diverse group of students.
Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind work assignments as needed.
The applicant if a student should attach a class schedule and provide references from an instructor for the class in which they want to tutor.
