About This Position

SUMMARY The Sales Engineer is responsible for driving profitable revenue growth by providing expert technical and applications support, cultivating a strong pipeline of new opportunities, and securing design wins that lead to bookings. This role acts as a bridge between engineering and sales—engaging with customers, sales partners, and internal teams to offer tailored motor solutions that meet customer requirements and align with company objectives. This position reports to the Director of Sales.

Overall Responsibilities

Applications and Technical Support:

  • Provide expert consultation on product selection, system integration, and performance optimization
  • Conduct technical reviews of customer specifications, drawings, or requirements
  • Troubleshoot customer issues related to motor installation, application, or field performance

Business Development and Sales Execution:

  • Proactively identify and qualify new opportunities across assigned accounts and territories
  • Prepare and deliver tailored proposals and quotes that align with customer needs and project requirements
  • Convert leads to design wins and design wins into revenue-generating projects
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key customers, OEMs, and channel partners

Channel and Account Management:

  • Manage and support assigned sales channels, including representatives, distributors, and private-label partners
  • Provide training and ongoing technical guidance to channel partners to ensure alignment and performance

Internal Collaboration and CRM Reporting:

  • Document all sales activities, opportunity progress, and customer engagements in the CRM system
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, production, and customer service teams to ensure timely delivery, product customization, and issue resolution
  • Participate in product development discussions by providing field feedback and identifying unmet customer needs
  • Travel and Industry Engagement:
  • Visit customer sites to support product evaluations, system integration, or technical troubleshooting
  • Attend industry trade shows and exhibitions to promote products and identify new opportunities

Deliverables:

• Generate new projects / opportunities (target of 5x per month)

• Opportunity Win Rate (target of 50%)

• Profitable Revenue (target TBD)

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business management or mechanical engineering. Three to five years of related experience strongly preferred.

• Strong technical, functional, and configuration knowledge ERP and CRM systems.

• Meets or exceeds performance factors indicated on Performance Appraisal form.

• Demonstrates and abides by the Company Core Values and operating principles.

• Establishes and maintains effective channels of communications with managers, co-workers, affiliates, vendors, and all other business contacts.

• Uses equipment and materials in a safe and acceptable manner, follows established safety procedures, uses appropriate safeguards, and observes common sense rules of safety in all on-the-job activities.

• Conducts self in a manner reflecting credit on Lin Engineering and encourages others to do the same.

• Must be organized, creative, independent, and self-motivated, enthusiastic, dependable, detail-oriented, flexible in scheduling and prioritization, and driven by excellence.

• Must be able to adjust tasks and focus with poise, and in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities.

• Must possess proficient written and verbal communication skills, including accurate grammar and business correspondence knowledge.

• Thorough knowledge of clerical and administrative practices and skilled in customer service.

• Must present a neat, professional appearance.

• A belief in working as a cohesive team.

• Effective communication and people skills.

• Experience in make-to-order production is preferred.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.

• Extensive knowledge of operations and production management.

• Ability to interpret financial data as needed to set production goals.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

• Ability to travel daily and spend most of the day in a vehicle.

• Valid driver’s license and no major driving violations.

• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
