Summary

Do you enjoy figuring out how things work and then helping someone else understand them? Stored Energy Systems (SENS) is looking for a technically capable, curious, and personable individual who wants to grow into a professional Technical Instructor.

You do not need to already be a professional instructor.

We're interested in technicians and technical professionals who enjoy teaching others, mentoring coworkers, demonstrating equipment, explaining troubleshooting steps, or helping customers understand technical systems.

We'll help the right person develop the instructional skills and SENS product knowledge needed to become a successful technical trainer. This is an opportunity to take your hands-on experience in a new direction while staying connected to real-world electrical and industrial technology.

A Different Kind of Technical Career

For someone coming from field service, maintenance, installation, or another hands-on technical career, this position offers an opportunity to continue using your technical experience without spending every day in the field.  You'll still work with equipment. You'll still troubleshoot. You'll still learn new technology, but your job becomes helping other people become technically capable.

You will have the opportunity to develop professional skills in technical instruction, curriculum development, hands-on lab instruction, presentation, and adult learning while building expertise in industrial power-conversion technology. This position is part of a defined career path within Training & Development and cross-functional career opportunities may also exist within Field Service, Customer Support, and other technical areas.

Responsibilities

As a Technical Instructor, you will learn SENS products and gradually develop into an independent technical instructor. You will work alongside experienced instructors, engineers, field service personnel, and our digital content team to turn technical knowledge into practical learning experiences.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Learn SENS products, electrical fundamentals, applications, installation practices, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Assist with and eventually independently deliver classroom, virtual, and hands-on technical training.
  • Demonstrate equipment operation, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain training equipment, labs, demonstrations, and instructional materials.
  • Help evaluate students through written assessments, hands-on exercises, and practical demonstrations.
  • Work with Engineering, Field Service, Product Management, and Customer Support to understand real-world technical issues.
  • Help improve training presentations, procedures, labs, and technical documentation.
  • Partner with our digital content resources to develop videos and online technical learning.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience working with electrical, electronic, mechanical, industrial, energy, maintenance, field-service, or similar technical systems.
  • Associate’s degree, trade degree, technical certification, or 2 years equivalent hands-on experience in an electrical, energy, or technical field.
  • Ability to understand technical systems and explain how they work.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to help others learn through mentoring, peer training, customer support, demonstrations, presentations, or formal instruction.
  • Strong curiosity and willingness to research unfamiliar technical topics.
  • Organized and dependable, with attention to technical accuracy.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with people from different technical disciplines.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with LMS platforms, instructional design, video production, or e-learning.
  • Experience with any combination of the following:
