Mexcor seeks a Human Resources Generalist for the shared services team in NW Houston. We have a competitive compensation package that includes performance-based incentives, a wide range of benefits, career advancement and professional development opportunities.
The HR Generalist provides administrative and operational support to the Human Resources function under the direction of the Vice President of Human Resources, with primary responsibility for coordinating the employee onboarding process and supporting a positive, compliant new-hire experience. This role manages onboarding activities, including pre-employment requirements, new-hire documentation, employment eligibility verification, system setup, required acknowledgments and training, and coordination with managers to ensure employees are prepared for their first day and successfully integrated into the organization. The HR Generalist also serves as a backup to other HR functions as needed to ensure continuity of HR services and responsive support to employees and management.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee Onboarding & New-Hire Experience
· Coordinate the end-to-end onboarding process to provide new employees with an organized, timely, and positive onboarding experience.
· Manage pre-employment requirements, including background checks, drug screenings, required documentation, and other position-specific requirements.
· Ensure all required new-hire documents are completed accurately and timely, including employment eligibility verification and required federal, state, and company forms.
· Coordinate new-hire system setup and access with managers and appropriate departments to ensure employees are prepared for their first day.
· Assign and track required policies, acknowledgments, training, and other onboarding activities.
· Communicate with new hires throughout the pre-employment and onboarding process, providing instructions, answering questions, and resolving outstanding requirements.
· Partner with hiring managers to confirm start dates, work locations, schedules, equipment, system access, training plans, and other first-day needs.
· Monitor onboarding progress and proactively follow up with new hires and managers to address incomplete or outstanding items.
· Maintain accurate and complete employee records within the HRIS and other HR systems.
· Support new employees during their initial employment period and assist with questions regarding HR policies, payroll, benefits, systems, and company resources.
HR Operations & Compliance
· Maintain accurate employee data, personnel records, and required HR documentation in accordance with company policies and applicable record-retention requirements.
· Track completion of required employment documents, certifications, licenses, training, and other compliance requirements.
· Assist with HR audits and reviews to identify missing, expired, or incomplete employee documentation.
· Support the administration and documentation of HR policies, procedures, and compliance initiatives.
· Prepare HR reports, employee communications, correspondence, and other documentation as requested.
· Respond to routine employee and manager questions and appropriately escalate matters requiring additional HR review or guidance.
· Protect confidential employee and company information and exercise appropriate discretion when handling sensitive HR matters.
HR Team Support
· Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to HR leadership.
· Serve as a backup to other HR functions as needed to maintain continuity of HR services and timely support for employees and management.
· Assist with payroll, benefits, leave administration, Workers’ Compensation, employee relations, recruiting, offboarding, compliance, and other HR activities when coverage or additional support is needed.
· Collaborate with HR team members, managers, payroll, IT, and other departments to resolve employee issues and ensure HR processes are completed accurately and timely.
· Perform other HR-related duties and responsibilities as assigned based on organizational needs.

QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered
· Bilingual professional with fluency in Spanish and English, highly preferred
· SHRM-CP, aPHR, or higher preferred
· HR Coordinator or HR Generalist experience preferred
· Knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and compliance requirements
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
· Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
