Job Description

Description:

As a Slide Operator, you will help ensure a smooth and well-managed experience for our guests by controlling rider flow and clearly communicating slide rules and instructions. You may be assigned to water slides, slide run-outs, splash pads, or aquaplay structures, and will rotate through multiple non-deep water attractions throughout your shift. Staff are trained to recognize and respond to emergency situations in an aquatic environment. Expect extended time outdoors, exposure to sun and heat, and frequent use of stairs throughout your shift.

Training Requirements:

  • Complete a Starguard ELITE Dispatch Certification course: Fun-Plex only accepts Starguard Certification, which is provided to all selected candidates.
  • ELITE Dispatch course deposit: $100 for new staff
  • Approximately 2–2.5 hours of online coursework and two in-person training sessions.
  • Certifications Earned: ELITE Dispatch, HSI Basic Life Support, HSI Basic First Aid, HSI Bloodborne Pathogens
  • No swimming prerequisites: Slide dispatchers are not required to complete swimming prerequisites or wear a swimsuit uniform, as their duties are limited to slides and surface attractions only.

Main Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Monitor water slides by managing rider flow, clearly communicating rules and instructions to each guest, and monitoring slide run-outs at the end of each ride.
  • Assist with other non-deep water attractions by promoting appropriate behavior and helping ensure a positive experience for all guests
  • Provide minor first aid and emergency medical care until EMS arrives.
  • Enforce park rules professionally and consistently.
  • Attend scheduled training in-services.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of assigned work areas.
  • Assist outside your home department as needed to support overall park operations.

Minimum Age: 16

* The course deposit helps cover the costs of qualified instructors, training materials, and certification fees. The deposit is fully refundable for employees who successfully complete the entire season through September 6th. Certifications can be renewed yearly for a $75 deposit. Payment plans are available by request.

All staff who demonstrate the required skills and meet certification standards throughout employment may, at the program director’s discretion, keep their lifeguard certification to use for future job opportunities.
