Location: Cartersville, GA
Position Summary
The Truss Assistant Supervisor is responsible for supporting the supervisor who is overseeing daily operations in the truss manufacturing department. This role helps ensures production schedules are met while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and efficiency. The Truss Assistant Supervisor works with the supervisor to lead and support production staff, coordinate workflow, monitor equipment performance, and ensure all trusses are manufactured according to engineering specifications and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of truss production team members.
- Ensure all trusses are manufactured according to engineered designs, blueprints, and quality standards.
- Monitor production schedules and adjust workflows to meet deadlines and customer requirements.
- Enforce company safety policies and ensure compliance with OSHA and workplace safety regulations.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate production employees to maintain a skilled and productive workforce.
- Inspect completed trusses for quality, accuracy, and structural integrity.
- Coordinate with engineering, sales, and shipping departments to ensure smooth production flow.
- Maintain and oversee proper use of manufacturing equipment and tools.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Maintain accurate production records, inventory levels, and reporting documentation.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade education preferred.
- 3–5+ years of experience in truss manufacturing, carpentry, or related construction manufacturing.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret truss drawings, blueprints, and engineering layouts.
- Knowledge of truss manufacturing equipment, plates, and assembly processes.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet deadlines.
- Basic computer skills for production tracking and reporting.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with truss design software or production management systems.
- Knowledge of lumber grading, connector plates, and structural framing.
- Lean manufacturing or process improvement experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the production floor for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with wood dust, machinery, and varying temperatures.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing / production facility environment.
- May require occasional overtime or weekend work depending on production demands.
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time salary position; overtime may be required based on production needs.
- Pay based on experience, skill level, and certifications.
