Position Title: Loan Officer
Department: Mortgages
Work Arrangement: In-Office 8:30a-5:00p
Bilingual: Encouraged but not required
Sign on bonus: $1,500.00 sign on bonus available for full-time employment. Eligibility for the bonus is $500 after successful completion of onboarding/training to be paid with two months of service, and $1,000 after 6 months of continued full-time satisfactory service.

The Mortgage Origination Officer serves as a primary relationship builder and home loan expert for members and prospects. This role is responsible for originating, counseling, and guiding members through the mortgage lending process while ensuring regulatory compliance and alignment with Credit Union goals. Officers may specialize in outreach, underwriting, or business development depending on career level, with increased volume, complexity, or coaching responsibility corresponding to higher grades.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Originate and underwrite a full range of real estate loan products to meet member needs and Credit Union production goals while ensuring compliance with all lending policies and secondary market guidelines.

Develop, manage, and deepen relationships with community partners, realtors, attorneys, housing agencies, and financial education providers to expand the Credit Union’s presence and mortgage loan outreach.
3.
Provide personalized credit counseling and mortgage readiness coaching to borrowers, particularly those from LMI and historically underserved communities, to increase equitable access to homeownership.
4.
Conduct educational workshops and seminars for community groups, partners, and members on homebuying, lending options, and financial well-being.
5.
Support the full mortgage process by collecting documentation, ensuring timely follow-up with members and processors, and maintaining accurate and compliant loan files.
6.
Promote and cross-sell Credit Union products and services, encouraging use of Greylock as the member’s Primary Financial Institution.

Performance Measurements:
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: 3–5 years of experience in mortgage origination, real estate lending, or community financial services required.
Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent through specialized coursework. Additional business coursework preferred.
Interpersonal Skills: Must demonstrate empathy, cultural competency, and strong relationship-building skills. Able to collaborate across departments and external stakeholders.
Technical/Other Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, loan origination platforms, and spreadsheets. Understanding of underwriting, credit analysis, and secondary market guidelines. Certification as a Credit Union Financial Counselor (or ability to obtain within 90 days). Registration with NMLS required.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to travel within the designated geographic territory, including attendance at evening and weekend events. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods and operate standard office equipment.
Work Environment:
Hybrid role with both office and community-facing responsibilities. Frequent engagement with members, community organizations, and real estate professionals. Some in-person attendance required for events and partner meetings.
Salary Range:
The salary range for this role is $37.25 to $48.44. This is the salary range we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may pay more than the posted range for exceptionally qualified individuals. An employee’s pay position within the pay band will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience (job and life), skills (specific and transferable), seniority, performance, and business organizational needs. This range may also be modified in the future.
