INTRODUCTION:
The Accounting Department’s function is to pay, post, receive, balance and reconcile the Tribal financial records. Occasionally an employee may be required to perform other duties that are not in their current job description. The Accounting Department operates as a team in accomplishing all activities.
DUTIES:
- Issue purchase order numbers. Create daily purchase order batch, review and post as needed.
- Reconcile purchase orders with invoices and outstanding encumbrance report.
- Communicate with program staff as needed to obtain information to support accounting documents on a timely basis.
- Resolve billing disputes with vendors.
- Assist in processing accounts payable, as necessary.
- Assist in reconciling corporate credit cards to source documents.
- Assist in maintaining and reconciling assigned general ledger accounts.
- Assist in maintaining accurate vendor information utilizing TIN matching program.
- Assist customers and staff with CTSI Water & Sewer Transactions.
- Provides general technical assistance regarding accounting procedures to program staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or GED equivalent and one year experience in general bookkeeping/accounting field –OR- equivalent combination of education, training and experience. After two years of satisfactory experience as a Technician I, the employee may advance to an Accounting Technician II.
Experience in:
- Computerized accounting systems and windows applications.
Ability to:
- Use ten key and other office equipment.
- Read and understand financial documents and reports; preferred.
- Perform accounting functions on a computer.
Other:
- Possess solid interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to occasionally work some weekends and evenings.
