The Engineering Technician Manager is responsible for managing the team of engineering service technicians and acting as the project manager for engineering service projects. The role includes activities like executing compatibility and performance testing for customers and assisting other team members with their tasks as required. Other activities may include creating and maintaining BOMs (Bills of Material), monitoring part lifecycles, generating ECNs (Engineering Change Notifications), and initiating the EOL (End of Life) transition process when applicable.
Duties/Responsibilities- Manage and coach members of the engineering technician team on processes and best practices to work more effectively.
- Perform 1:1’s with each of the engineering technicians
- Be an active member on the engineering leadership team
- Work with engineering technicians on their individual development plans
- Conduct annual reviews for each of the engineering technicians
- Manage a project schedule and milestones for engineering service projects.
- Lead engineering service efforts on the team such as validation & performance testing efforts.
- Create department work instructions and train new employees
- Participate in the hiring and termination process as needed.
- Create and manage SLA’s to monitor the performance of the team.
- Provide production support as needed through a ticketing system.
- 3 years of experience working with, building, and integrating computer components into systems.
- 3 years of experience with Linux and Windows Operating Systems.
- 3 years of leadership experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent communication and listening skills, creativity, and the ability to work closely with technical resources and other members of AHEAD staff to successfully deliver assigned projects.
- Ability to manage projects and assist team members to move those projects from start to finish.
- Ability to manage other technicians to help coach and guide them on best practices.
- Proven experience around engineering discipline and revision control, including Engineering Change Management, PLM, and EOL.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent documentation skills.
- Working knowledge of computer architectures, server hardware components, and computer standards
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, planning and organizing, decision-making, communication skills, influencing and leading, teamwork, negotiation skills, conflict management, adaptability, and ability to thrive under pressure.
- Proven technical acuity and problem-solving abilities.
- An understanding of quality control and computer assembly methods.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Frequently lift computers that weigh up to 50 pounds.
The compensation range indicated in this posting reflects the On-Target Earnings (“OTE”) for this role, which includes a base salary and any applicable target bonus amount. This OTE range may vary based on the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
