Job Description
All on the Field (AOTF) runs paid canvassing and ballot-access programs across multiple states. We are hiring a State Operations Director to manage staffing, payroll, and logistics for our 2026 Mississippi canvass program.
This is the senior operations position on the program. The role is responsible for standing up and running all operational infrastructure for a program that scales from zero to full canvass capacity across DeSoto County, North Mississippi, and the Delta within a matter of weeks. That includes recruitment at volume, onboarding, payroll, multiple field offices, and supply logistics across a large geography. We are looking for a candidate with direct experience scaling an organization or program quickly.
The role is approximately 50% people operations and 50% physical operations, and manages a Deputy Operations Director and an Operations Associate. This position cannot be performed entirely remotely. Office setup, supply logistics, and in-person support across the turf require regular presence in state.
Responsibilities
- Own all operations for the Mississippi program: recruitment, onboarding, payroll, offices, supply, vendors, and compliance
- Build and run the recruitment pipeline at scale across job boards, local and community channels, and university and faith organization networks, maintaining 3 to 5 times active need against attrition
- Manage the state operations team, including the Deputy Operations Director and Operations Associate
- Source, lease, and set up multiple field offices and staging locations across the turf
- Own the onboarding pipeline through Justworks, including paperwork, background screening, payroll setup, and compliance, at program volume
- Own payroll: coordinate with field leadership to review and approve hours, process expenses and reimbursements, and meet every payroll deadline
- Project, order, and distribute supply across regions; manage inventory, replenishment, and end-of-program shutdown
- Handle HR matters, personnel escalations, and labor compliance questions
- Build and document the operational systems the program runs on
- Other operations work as the program requires
Qualifications
- 3+ years or campaign cycles of operations, logistics, or program management experience
- Direct experience with a rapid scale-up: an organization or program that grew several times over within weeks or months, where you owned that growth operationally
- Experience running logistics across a large, dispersed geography with multiple sites
- Experience managing an operations team
- Recruitment and hiring experience at volume
- Campaign or field operations experience strongly preferred
- Proficient with Google Workspace and able to learn new tools quickly; experience with Justworks a plus
- Clear communicator who can convey process to non-operational staff
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle; available for evening and weekend work
The Details
- Salary: $6,500 - 7,500 per month
