Job Description
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner — Lead Care, Keep Your Summers, Make an Impact
Kids First Health Care | School-Based Health Centers, Adams County, CO | Part-Time | 10-Month Academic Year Position
A Legacy of Firsts — And a Role Built for Work-Life BalanceKids First Health Care isn't just another employer — we're Colorado's original school-based health center, founded in 1978. Nearly 50 years later, we're still proving that every child deserves access to quality care, and we need an experienced NP ready to lead that mission in the classroom, not just the clinic.
This role is built differently than a typical NP position: you'll work the academic school year only (~10 months), with schedules that align to the district calendar — meaning real time off in the summer, without sacrificing the autonomy and clinical leadership of full-scope practice.
Why NPs Choose This Role:- True independence — you'll practice at the top of your license, managing your own patient panel with full diagnostic, treatment, and preventive authority.
- Built-in balance — 10-month academic calendar means summers off. No nights, no rotating holiday coverage.
- Real leadership — you'll lead an integrated team of MAs, health educators, and behavioral health providers, not just see patients.
- Strong hourly pay — $50–$60/hour, competitive with (and often exceeding) full-time NP compensation.
- Meaningful, whole-child impact — you're the clinical anchor for kids who might not otherwise have access to care.
Schedule: Part-time, 22.5–30 hours/week during the school year (approx. 10 months annually)
Pay: $50.00–$60.00/hour (based on experience)
Location: Primary, middle, or high school-based site in Adams County, with occasional coverage at other SBHCs or community clinics
| Benefit | Eligibility | Highlight |
|---|---|---|
| Medical | 24+ hrs/week | 5 plan options through Kaiser Permanente, including a $0-deductible Gold plan |
| Dental | 20+ hrs/week | Delta Dental coverage available |
| Vision | 20+ hrs/week | VSP coverage available |
| Retirement | 20+ hrs/week | 403(b) with up to 3% discretionary match (up to $5,000/year) |
| Life & Disability | 20+ hrs/week | Employer-paid $50,000 life insurance + short-term disability, no cost to you |
| Family Leave | All eligible employees | Paid family leave through Colorado FAMLI |
| EAP Support | All eligible employees | Confidential work/life support for you and your family |
Benefit eligibility is based on average scheduled hours per week; specific elections will be confirmed during onboarding.
