Job Description

HR Generalist

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Human Resources Generalist supports the daily operations of the HR department by providing administrative, compliance and project support services plus other Human Resources functions. Provides both internal and external customers with information through confidential written and oral communications.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate or bachelor’s Degree with a focus in Human Resources preferred
  • 1–2 years of experience in Human Resources or a similar role required (equivalent professional experience may be considered)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills and ability to communicate effectively and prioritize tasks

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Reports to Human Resources Director

DIRECT REPORTS:

None

POSITION-SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Onboarding & Employee Support

  • Coordinate onboarding activities for travel nursing staff and other temporary healthcare personnel including completion of required credentialing and other compliance/education requirements.
  • Serve as backup for the HR/Benefits Coordinator by assisting with new hire orientation/onboarding, benefits administration, enrollment support, and employee questions.
  • Support employee engagement and retention initiatives.

HR Operations & Communications

  • Maintain and regularly update the HR intranet page with current forms, policies, announcements, and resources as needed.
  • Create, revise, and maintain Human Resources Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process documentation.
  • Assist with HR reporting, salary surveys, data tracking, and record management.
  • Assist in administering employee surveys and compiling results for leadership review.
  • Respond to routine employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs.

Recruitment Support

  • Serve as backup support for recruitment activities such as scheduling interviews, conducting reference checks, and coordinating candidate communications.
  • Assist with career fairs, recruitment events, and workforce development initiatives as needed.

Compliance & Auditing

  • Conduct monthly and/or quarterly audits of employee personnel files to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with staff credentialing audits and maintain documentation related to licenses, certifications, and required healthcare credentials.

Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in HR projects designed to improve processes, employee experience, compliance, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Assist with policy updates, training initiatives, and implementation of HR programs.
  • Perform other HR-related duties and special projects as assigned.
