Description:
Position Purpose: The part-time work study position is up to 17 hours per week and assists in the day-to-day operations of the Collaborate Lab.
Primary Responsibilities
This position reports to the Collaborate Lab Coordinator and provides support to the Collaborate Lab and technical education faculty and staff. This includes learning the digital fabrication equipment and assisting the Lab Coordinator with development of digital fabrication project ideas and delivery of training to users.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
• Possess a general knowledge of makerspace equipment and policies to adequately direct tours and answer potential user questions.
• Maintain a safe, clean and creative work environment for the lab. • Understand, adhere to, and hold users accountable to the processes and policies of the makerspace. • Assist users with machine difficulties, assess the need for service, and alert the Lab Coordinator of machine maintenance or repair needs.
• Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: Personable, friendly demeanor with a desire to create relationships with other students, faculty and staff. Interest in and ability to learn the equipment and software and share the learned knowledge. Mechanically inclined with ability to confidently troubleshoot and proactively problem solve. Possess the confidence to address user safety and policy violations. Work with minimal supervision.
This position is a part of the Federal work-study program, to qualify you must be a State Fair Community College student enrolled in the current semester and eligible for Financial Aid thorough the Federal Work-study program.
Employment will require a criminal background check at College expense.
