Principal Cyber Security Architecture Lead

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Cyber Security Architecture Lead based in United States.

The Principal Cyber Security Architecture Lead will provide strategic cybersecurity leadership across enterprise technology environments, helping organizations securely adopt innovative solutions while managing evolving cyber risks.
This role focuses on embedding security into the design and delivery of applications, cloud platforms, data ecosystems, and AI-driven technologies.
You will serve as a trusted advisor to architecture, engineering, AI, infrastructure, and business teams, ensuring security is integrated throughout the solution lifecycle.
The position offers the opportunity to shape enterprise security strategies, define governance frameworks, and advance Secure by Design principles at scale.
You will work on complex challenges involving cloud security, artificial intelligence, threat modeling, regulatory requirements, and emerging cyber threats.

Accountabilities:

The Principal Cyber Security Architecture Lead is responsible for defining and advancing enterprise security architecture strategies while partnering with technical and business stakeholders to protect critical systems and enable secure innovation. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic leadership to identify risks, implement security controls, and establish scalable cybersecurity practices.

  • Lead the development and maintenance of comprehensive security architectures, standards, policies, protocols, and guardrails for applications, data platforms, AI solutions, and enterprise systems.
  • Embed Secure by Design principles across the technology lifecycle, ensuring security requirements are incorporated from initial design through production deployment.
  • Conduct threat modeling, risk assessments, vulnerability analysis, and security reviews across software, infrastructure, data environments, and AI solutions.
  • Develop mitigation strategies for cybersecurity risks, including unauthorized access, data exposure, adversarial attacks, system vulnerabilities, and emerging threats.
  • Define security requirements and governance frameworks for artificial intelligence solutions, including generative AI and agentic AI environments.
  • Establish and promote AI security practices covering identity management, least-privilege access, data classification, monitoring, logging, human oversight, and responsible AI governance.
  • Partner with architecture, engineering, development, data science, DevOps, privacy, legal, compliance, and business teams to ensure secure solution delivery.
  • Evaluate AI use cases and emerging technologies to identify security risks and establish appropriate controls before implementation.
  • Select, implement, and automate cybersecurity technologies, including monitoring platforms, vulnerability management tools, anomaly detection solutions, and security control validation processes.
  • Provide strategic guidance to stakeholders on cybersecurity best practices, regulatory alignment, and enterprise risk reduction.
  • Support continuous improvement of cybersecurity capabilities through automation, innovation, and adoption of industry-leading practices.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced cybersecurity architecture professional with strong knowledge of enterprise security, cloud technologies, artificial intelligence security, and secure system design. They possess the ability to influence stakeholders, solve complex security challenges, and translate technical risks into practical business solutions.

  • 7+ years of progressive experience designing and securing enterprise architectures across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Strong understanding of secure architecture principles, cybersecurity frameworks, and enterprise security best practices.
  • Deep expertise in security technologies and practices, including cryptography, secure data storage, secure communications, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, and incident response.
  • Demonstrated experience addressing AI and machine learning security challenges, including risks associated with large language models, generative AI applications, agentic AI systems, model integrations, and AI data pipelines.
  • Experience defining and implementing AI security guardrails and governance frameworks, including access controls, monitoring, red teaming, secure orchestration, and responsible AI practices.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar technologies to improve security operations and control enforcement.
  • Experience securing cloud-native and hybrid environments using platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is preferred.
  • Knowledge of AI governance, security posture management, data security practices, ethical AI frameworks, and responsible technology principles is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC, or cloud security certifications are highly valued.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on with complex security initiatives.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 15%–20% globally, including overnight travel.
